So, instead of trying to develop players for 2023, we are bringing in old players who have been missing from the national team for nearly a decade.

Because he can bat a bit so he was announced as Mashrafes replacement. Meanwhile Taskin was announced as Saifuddins replacement.

That is the thought process of our selectors as funny as it sounds

I though Reza was replacement of saifuddin and taskin in place of mash. Beside saifuddin don’t we have any young fast bowling allrounder in domestic circuit? Anyone have any idea?

I think there is no real difference finishing 5th, 6th, or 8th in the World Cup unless we ever have a team good enough to win/reach the final of the World Cup. If you consider this World Cup a failure then it will continue to be a failure unless we develop that team good enough to win the WC.

Only pace allrounders I can think of aside from saifuddin and Reza are alauddin babu and abul hasan if you count him as an allrounder, not sure who else there is. So really soumya you’d have to say is one of the best pace allrounders in the country even though he’s basically considered a batsman.

Tamim Iqbal
Anamul Haque
Soumya Sarkar
Mushfqur Rahim
Mohammad Mithun
Mahmudullah Riad
Taijul Islam/Sabbir Rahman
Mosaddek Hossain
Mehedi Miraz
Taskin Ahmed
Rubel Hossain

Still a fairly strong squad, stronger in bowling and ground fielding compared to WC squad

What happened to Fizz, I was hoping he would play?

Shahidul and Ariful would have been better like for like replacements Mash and Saifuddin.

Taskin should have replaced Rubel.

I would chose the following squad:

1. Tamim Iqbal (c)
2. Soumya Sarkar
3. Anamul Haque(wk)
4. Mushfiqur Rahim
5. Mohammad Mithun
6. Mahmudullah Riyad
7. Mosaddek Hossain
8. Mehedi Hasan Miraz
9. Rubel Hossain
10. Taskin Ahmed
11. Mustafizur Rahman

Batting Rating: 2.5 out of 5
Bowling Rating: 2.0 out of 5
Fielding Rating: 2.5 out of 5

If Shakib and Liton were there Batting rating would have been 3.0... and bowling rating would have been 2.5...

Looks like Reza and Taskin botched their chances in the practice match, Shafiul has been added to the squad.
