I just made a non refundable non changeable ticket yesterday without much thought.... this is gonna be rough... it's already a connecting flight to begin with as price for that particular date of travel for me kept on rising to the point i was just thinking of cancelling it. Someone will be yelling at me the whole time FML.

Heathrow express sounds perfect. It runs every 20 mins and that ride to paddington is 15 mins only..so I don't have to worry about timing.


1. Heathrow express to London paddington
2. Paddington to London Euston (taxi, subway/tube?) - question: is Euston and Marylebaone station connected via walking?
3. Find a train to Birmingham (this is where my time becomes a problem because I can't do advance tickets without knowing when i will be there and there seems to be such a wide range in price fares. What's the cost of a peak train if i buy at the station? or will there be something available regardless.

Other option is there is a National Express Bus from heathrow to Birmingham but it's 3 hours + long journey and I get motion sickness on bus. I can't do that after flight. Really regretting not buying a flight directly to birmingham airport now.

I did drive in London and it was not a pleasant experience. Although I managed to drive for few hours,still didnt like that experience. Why cant they all just drive like USA?

Driving in central London during peak hours is a poor experience.

I heard quite a few Americans struggle with roundabouts which is why they dont like the system.

Roundabouts were ok but adjusting to the right side of the street took a while

You don’t see too many roundabouts in South because of those regions are spacious. It is more common in congested traffic areas.

First time traveling to the UK, arriving at Gatwick, planning to stay 3 days and watch BDvsPK. Checked the hotels near Lords, they are 3x higher during the gameday than normal. Any suggestion on what other areas I can look to stay that has an easy commute to Lords? Would also like to try some deshi cuisine – who are among the top?

May try airbnb near bricklane/Banglatown area

If you want to stay in Central then air bnb is great. Otherwise budget hotels are called premier inn or travel lodge. Check their websites. You don’t really need to stay near Lords but can stay somewhere near a Tube station. usually any area between zone 1 and Zone 3 are close by to London but tend to be pricey. I would not stay near Bricklane personally as I find it a grimm area.

For Bangla cuisine Graam Bangla and The Feast are good. My personal favourite is Dhaka Biryani as it takes me back to Dhaka. Needos is a great place to eat Pakistani food. These are all located not too far from Bricklane.

Go down south - much cheaper.

East Croydon has some good places to stay. Victoria by train is only 20 mins, then tube to St James Park - 20 mins.

Mate Croydon is a rank place IMO. Shingaras’ safety advice applies there
