(though they won't be #1 when new rankings come out in April...)

I predict at least 2 wins in the 2nd round...one against Ireland and another against England / WI.

Seems that it will... but only the match with the other qualifier will (SL, in BD's case) count for it.

The NRR looks almost perfectly symmetrical. (ie. SL = +4.304, BD, -4.304, etc.) Is that how it should be?

Only the matches played against qualified teams count in Super 8. This is why in super 8 point table every team has played one match, and the NRR is only whatever they gained from that match.

Plus of one team is the minus of the other. So, it has to be.

So this means rather than worrying about NRR, we should concentrate more on winning at least 5 of our 6 matches. Ok Then ... where do we begin ?

Man our NRR is the worst in super8. Definitely our batting is hurting our progress in cricket.

exactly. this is a young team, and it is important that they go out there and enjoy themselves. sure, there will be the overhead of game planning, the burden of fans' expectations and what not, but if they enjoy themselves, any feat is possible to pull off.

New Zealand could have some troubles: opener Lou Vincent got wrist broken during practice and left the tournament. Hamish Marshall will be called in his place. Batsman Ross Taylor is still sufferin from hamstring strain (missed last match) and Tuffey left the team too after injuring right shoulder and was replaced by Chris Martin.

btw here is a "quick guide" to the Super-8
http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/wc200...ry/287305.html

this is to be kept in mind:
"If there is a tie for positions, then they are separated as follows:
The team with the most wins goes through;
if the number of wins are the same, net run-rate - including all matches played in the competition - comes into play;
if - and it is very unlikely - NRR is the same then the team with the most wickets taken per balls bowled goes through."
