Afghanistan Are A Really Talented Bunch

Nabi and Rashid Khan just got sold in the IPL for 30 Lakh and 4 Crore respectively, the afghans are no doubt are a really talented bunch, and,I won`t be suprised when they overtake us in cricket, which is very soon, their A-Team beat Zimbabwe A at home and away, beat WI in WC T20, beat Zimbabwe Twice at home and twice abroad.......They really should get test status, and I am sure that they will become what we were never able to be....That is consistent away and at home..The talent is all there, and I can`t wait for the Afghanistan In West Indies Tour very soon, we might see the rise of Afghanistan

They are very talented. I ve followed their progress in football too, where they ve zoomed past all South Asian teams in such short time.

But...we ve seen this before. Kenya, Ireland, UAE, Scotland even Zim to a certain extent (Although they were a stronger team than us long before us). Replacing the original crop of cricketers with a new batch is often the toughest tasks faced by associates.

Although Afghan is progressing superbly, lot of their senior players are on the older side. The natural talent is surely there, how well they progress depends on a lot on administration side as well. I definitely am looking forward to seeing them as the next test nation.

Good to see Afghanistan doing well in sports. Gives their cursed country something to cheer about. I saw a nice documentary on the Afghanistan cricket team.

They need the right resources and support for them to progress. But they also need the right framework to develop their youth. But looking at these T20 contracts will give being a full time sports career in their country new dimensions

Most of us, knew/know, they're coming up well, impressive. Nothing new. But please, don't base it on seeing few them get selected for IPL.

Rashid is one of the best leg spinner in the world.

They will be a major force in cricket very soon. Cricketers like Nabi, Rashid or Shehzad (surprised that he didn't get a team) are far more talented than guys like Shakib Tamim or Riyad. Many of you might not like this comment but it's the truth.

Nabi is way better than Shakib.
Its a no brainer. But as a pure batsman Tamim is ahead of Shehzad IMHO.
Excited to see Nabi and Rashid in IPL.

Success is football is based on participation from players who are brought up in Europe and plays in european lower leagues.
However cricket is the real success story. Rashid Khan is an unbelievable talent.
If only they were not besieged by war and chaos, Afghanistan would not only be a test team now but a top 4 cricket team in the world.

Nabi is not better than Shakib. His batting average is 29 facing the bowling of Netherlands, Zimbabwe, and Ireland. He is a quality all-rounder. He is better than Riyad, and probably better than Nasir as well.

Shahzad is a hack...to even compare him with Tamim is like saying "Viv Richards is ahead of Shahid Afridi IMO".

AFG could be a top 8 side, and one day could be a top 4 side...but there is no indication to suggest that they have the talent to be ahead of one of Australia, England, India, or South Africa. Jotoshob.

Lets not get carried away with this IPL auction which is a joke in itself where the worlds top limited edition bowler Imran Tahir doesn't get a team and someone like a Darren Bravo gets a contract.

Afghanistan is a decent team packed with hacks and raw fast bowlers.

'18 Year old' Rashid Khan is surely better than any leg spinners we have but apart from the odd matches here and there, he has not been exposed much in the international scene. The last time Rashid faced de villers he went for 29 runs in one over. Yes 29.

He's 29...which means he's probably 31 or so. Has poor technique also lacks fitness. He's no different than a Habibul Bashar or Ashraful...ie good for the team he's on, but will eventually be exposed by his numerous limitations.

They are and good for them. For all that they have been through, they have a good cricket team and an excellent soccer team to show for it.
