Thumbs up Afghanistan thread

Congratulations in getting in the top 10 tourney even though they were favorites to move on. Thoroughly outplayed all their opponents. WC T20.

The rise in last five years has been exceptional. Phenomenal.

They play with a chip on their shoulder. With confidence!! Some mistake it with arrogance. They are still learning. Do not fault them over reacting on the field to show their zeal. Not long ago, Mushi's barking against inferior opponent was on the same line. If you can over look Shakib misbehave on and off the field, then you can give these boys some space. They have a balanced side for the 20 over format. Excellent fast bowling unit, good attacking opener, well balanced spin attack. I think Nabi is par with Shakib if not better in form currently.

They are one of the teams that I want to see do good (except against us). Best of luck from here on.

Same here! As long as we beat them, don't mind them winning against everyone else. Cricket's feel good story.

Good T20 side. Long way to go in the longer formats.

They cant play at home for obvious reasons. So they will fade away after few years. Good team atm but mainly riding on players made in Pakistan. I dont see any reason to go gaga over them.

Afghanistan is grabbing the opportunity with both hands to perform at the big stage. They are proving a point that "associates" are not the kids who will get bullied anymore by the big teams.

Just remember, they are higher ranked than Bangladesh in this format.

They are playing almost the same group of players who was a part of Afghanistan back in 2008... which is both good and bad... the only new player who looks good is Rashid khan( the leggie) .

Their 4 day stuff not as good as their one day/t20 stuff.
I actually think their T20 side is top notch.

They made such short work of Zimbabwe!

The same Zim that beat us twice in the last two matches of the T20 series.

This is a very good Afghan team. No doubt about it. I briefly checked out the game today when they were bowling. People mostly rate their fast bowlers, but their spinners can turn it for miles! Only if they maintain proper line and length, they will be really hard to bat against.

^they beat us twice we played too much "experiment" in the 3rd t20 and Mustaf was unfit for last two. Also prior to the series, not to forget most our players played on dull low slow t20 wickets at the bpl which didn't help at all. Having said that I still think a t20 series of BD, ZIM, AFG could be held time to time.

Somehow they have solved the Zim equation. 5-0 in T20. Never lost to them. In ODIs they are 8-6.

They are 1-1 in ODIs with us, and 0-1 in T20.

They have many parallels with us. They have a chance to beat SL, England, maybe even WI due to their bowling. But their batting is terrible. They will struggle to post 120 every game.

Not a big fan of Afghanistan, though I would want them to do well.

Still cant forget the cockiness their players showed after after winning an ODI against Bangladesh Women's team (Womens cause it had mushy as captain).

The 17 year leg spinner looks like a very good prospect. Although at 31 i probably look much younger than him :P

There is no way Rashid khan is 17. It will defy all the logic and biological process of aging known to mankind.

Afghan spinners are class.

But they need a few batting stars along with Nabi and Stanikzai to get the good totals.

And they are lucky to have a tenacious character like Shahzad. Every up and coming team needs such a live wire.
