নয় মাস ফিল্ডিং কোচের দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন বাংলাদেশ দলের। থাকতে চেয়েছিলেন আরও। বিসিবি চুক্তি না বাড়ানোয় ক্ষোভ আর হতাশা নিয়েই চলে যেতে হয়েছিল জুলিয়েন ফাউন্টেনকে। পাকিস্তানের ফিল্ডিং কোচ হয়ে এশিয়া কাপ উপলক্ষে আবারও ঢাকায় এই ইংলিশ কোচ। কিন্তু ঢাকা তাঁকে মোটেও স্মৃতিকাতর করছে না।

 বাংলাদেশে আবার এসে কেমন লাগছে?
জুলিয়েন ফাউন্টেন: খুবই ভালো লাগছে পাকিস্তানের সঙ্গে এসে। এই টুর্নামেন্টে পাকিস্তান দলের অংশ হতে পেরে আমি খুশি।

 পুরোনো স্মৃতি নিশ্চয়ই মনে পড়ছে ঢাকায় আসার পর...
ফাউন্টেন: (অনেকক্ষণ ভেবে) কী বলব...বিনয়ের সঙ্গেই বলছি, কিছু বলার নেই আসলে। আপনারা তো বোঝেনই। হ্যাঁ, বাংলাদেশে এসে ভালোই লাগছে। আবারও ক্রিকেটের জন্যই এখানে এলাম।
 বাংলাদেশ ছেড়ে যাওয়ার সময় কিছু বাজে অভিজ্ঞতা হয়েছিল আপনার। সেটাও নিশ্চয়ই মনে আছে?
ফাউন্টেন: এ নিয়ে কিছু বলতে চাই না। আমি এখন পাকিস্তান দলের সঙ্গে আছি। দলটা খুবই ভালো। পিসিবি অনেক পেশাদার। তারা আমাকে যে রকম রেখেছে, আমি তাতে খুশি। তবে আমি বাংলাদেশে থাকতে পারিনি, এটা দুঃখজনক।

 আপনি থাকতে চাইলেও বিসিবি চুক্তির মেয়াদ বাড়ায়নি। সেটা কি এখনো কষ্ট দেয়?
ফাউন্টেন: কষ্ট লাগে কি না...এ ব্যাপারে আসলে আমার কোনো অনুভূতিই নেই।

 বিপিএলে ঢাকা গ্ল্যাডিয়েটরসের ফিল্ডিং কোচ ছিলেন। কেমন অভিজ্ঞতা হলো?
ফাউন্টেন: ভালো, খুবই ভালো একটা টুর্নামেন্ট হয়েছে বিপিএল। তবে আমার মনে হয়, টুর্নামেন্টটা আরও ভালোভাবে আয়োজন করা যেত। যত দিন যাবে, টুর্নামেন্টটা আরও ভালো হবে, আশা করি। আমার বিশ্বাস, বাংলাদেশের ক্রিকেটারদের জন্যও এটা খুব ভালো একটা জায়গা। তবে এখানে খেলতে আসা বিদেশি ক্রিকেটারদের কাছ থেকে তাদের জানতে হবে, শিখতে হবে এবং সেসব কাজে লাগাতে হবে।

 কিন্তু এ ধরনের টুর্নামেন্ট কি আসলেই একটা দেশের ক্রিকেটে কোনো রকম ইতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলতে পারে?
ফাউন্টেন: অবশ্যই। সুষ্ঠুভাবে আয়োজন করতে পারলে, কাঠামো ভালো হলে, খুব ভালো প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা থাকলে এবং ভালো মানের খেলোয়াড়েরা খেললে যেকোনো টুর্নামেন্টেরই একটা ইতিবাচক প্রভাব থাকে। বাংলাদেশের ক্লাব ক্রিকেটের সঙ্গে তুলনা করলে বিপিএল খুবই ভালো। আপনার জাতীয় দল ততটাই ভালো হবে, যতটা ভালো আপনার ঘরোয়া ক্রিকেট।

 ঢাকায় আসার পর বাংলাদেশের ক্রিকেটার বা বিসিবির কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে কথা হয়েছে?
ফাউন্টেন: খুবই কম...খুব কম ছেলেই আমার সঙ্গে কথা বলেছে। তাদের সঙ্গে নয় মাস ছিলাম আমি। অথচ তারা আমাকে ভুলেই গেল!

 ডেভ হোয়াটমোরের সঙ্গে কাজ করার অভিজ্ঞতা কেমন? তিনিও তো বাংলাদেশের কোচ ছিলেন একসময়...
ফাউন্টেন: অসাধারণ। তবে বাংলাদেশে কাজ করার ব্যাপারটা বাদ দিন। সেটা অনেক দিন আগের কথা। আমি আমার অভিজ্ঞতার কথাই বলি। এখন পর্যন্ত অভিজ্ঞতা খুব ভালো। শুধু হোয়াটমোরই নন, পিসিবিও অসাধারণ। পাকিস্তান দল, খেলোয়াড়—সবই অসাধারণ। দলে অনেক বড় বড় সেলিব্রেটি খেলোয়াড় আছে, তারাও আমার কাছে সাহায্যের জন্য আসে। আমার সঙ্গে কঠোর পরিশ্রম করে। সবচেয়ে তরুণ থেকে শুরু করে সবচেয়ে সিনিয়র খেলোয়াড় পর্যন্ত সবাই পরিশ্রম করে। অন্যের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধাশীল, নম্র, পেশাদার ক্রিকেটার তারা।

 পাকিস্তানে তাহলে উপভোগই করছেন...
ফাউন্টেন: হ্যাঁ, লাহোর শহরটা দারুণ। সুযোগ-সুবিধা ভালো, ওখানকার মানুষও অসাধারণ।
 কিন্তু ওখানে তো প্রায় প্রতিদিনই বোমাবাজি হচ্ছে, মানুষ মারা যাচ্ছে। ভয় করে না?
ফাউন্টেন: গতকাল (পরশু) ঢাকায়ও আমি হোটেলের জানালা দিয়ে দেখেছি, মানুষজন একে অন্যকে লাঠি দিয়ে মারছে। রাস্তায় দৌড়াদৌড়ি করছে। এখানেও প্রায় প্রতিদিন মানুষ মরছে, একে অন্যকে খুন করছে।

 এমনিতে পাকিস্তান খুব ভালো ফিল্ডিং দল নয়। তাদের সঙ্গে কাজ করা কতটা চ্যালেঞ্জিং?
ফাউন্টেন: হয়তো কথাটা ঠিক। কিন্তু তাতে কী! বাংলাদেশও তো খুব ভালো ফিল্ডিং দল না। মাঠে তো তারা ম্যাচ জিতেছে! তখনো আমি পেশাদারির সঙ্গে আমার কাজ করেছি। এখনো তা-ই করব।

Julien sounded so bitter in that article. His love and praise for PCB, Lahore and Pakistan seemed like an ex lover's attempt to get even with the ex for dumping him. I found it funny how he tried to compare Dhaka's situation with that of Pakistan.

LOL..Good one bro

He did actually go through some rough moments at the end of his tenure in Bangladesh. He was given a verbal assurance by BCB about renewing his contract and few days later he found out from media that he doesnt have a job while he was in England taking care of his ailing father who passed away few days later.

I must say that BCB wasnt very proficient handing Fountain's situation. Fountain was very sincere about our success and we didnt treat him with the respect that he certainly deserved.

Why are these coaches trying to distance themselves from our players? I mean are we wrong to give them credit for finding and building a solid unit in their respective era?

কারণ নতুন বোর্ডরে তেল না দিলে, ঝাড়ু পিটা করবে. জানালা দিয়া দেখসে এক বেটা বলে আরেক বেটা রে লাঠি দিয়া মারতাসে. এরকম কথা না বললে পিসিবি ও তাই করবে.

Do you expect them to say that Oh I miss Bangladesh so much, I want to come back, I wish I can work here again, Bangladesh is so much better than Pakistan?? They said what a professional would say. "Jaar nun khai taar gun gaai".

Jar nun khao goon gao but doesn't mean u have to talk smack about your previous job. Compare constantly how ur current one is better. That's not professionalism. No matter how badly you ended with last job, you try to keep good connection... at least for references purposes.

Besides, whatever happened with BCB, us fans always sympathized with the coach. Now he is losing his fan base.

I guess to coach it is more important to make his new boss happy than worry about us poor fans.
