Default Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Short answer, no. In this T20 WC, only one team would end with ZERO points. BCB needs to go back to the drawing board. Unfortunately, the biggest need will not be addressed. BCB needs new leadership, a visionary like Saber Hossain Chowdhury. Oh well, a fan can dream.

1. Coaching staff has to go. The team's regression in ALL departments was painful to watch.
2. Captaincy was even worse. I have been complaining about bowling changes and field placement for quite some time. Sourav Ganguly was complaining about the same issues today.
3. The only batsman NOT to stink this tournament was Anamul. Everyone else struggled.
4. Spin bowling was supposed to be strength of this team. It was not. We need to go back and look at the other options. Enamul Jr should be given a few matches. There are many others, including Tajul, Arafat, and Nur. Gazi and Razzak have been brutal lately. They need to go.
5. Pace bowling was not supposed to be a strength, but Al-Amin was the best bowler for BD. Taskin also showed some promise. However, they need to be handled with care. Mushfiqur overbowled Robiul in SL and ZIM. Now, he is injured.
6. There can be no excuse for the poor fielding. They might even institute some kind of financial punishment for bad miss.
7. Nothing will work without changing the attitude of the team. Almost the same team nearly won Asia Cup in 2012. Now look at them. A system of accountability and transparency has to be in place. Even if we cannot have the Australian system (perform or you are out), we should try. No one should get a free ride because they were good at some time in the past.

There is light a the end of the tunnel. We can see that, we can feel that.

But to me the question is will BCB walk toward the light in the tunnel, or just wait in the tunnel expecting miracle to happen out of no where and save them?

Yes there is. Short sighted people can't find it.

But we need a proper guide to get us the to end of the tunnel where we can see the light. That day will come InShaaAllah

Realistically, the only change will be in captaincy. Shakib is the only one who wouldn't do worse than Mushfiq, and I highly doubt he would be much better. Plus, with his recent statements, he is turning into a clown day by day and at the current rate, he'll be a bigger clown that Ashraful ever could dream of being. Only other change is perhaps Razzak being dropped or retiring.

Thus the changes I'd like to see is the following:

1) Mushfiq giving up the gloves, especially and at least in Test cricket. He needs to bat at #3 in Tests. Like Ash, he won't step down a la Brendon McCullum or Brendon Taylor. His gloves need to be taken away. Khatos shouldn't keep. Anam seems to be a more natural WK than him. Missed stumpings, can't reach catches, missed byes, needs to end.

2) Razzak being axed. Arafat, Taijul, Enam, all can do better SLA wise we're set because we have incredible depth.

3) Gazi seems to be just be a Test specialist. Riyad I think can reinvent his game as specialist offie that bats a bit.

There is. If you change the setup, captain, coach, and plan well wisely choosing the right players for the right format

It's really the same story in the end. The team's got talent, but lack the self belief. The culture of excuses is still well and alive. When the going gets tough, they get down on themselves very easily and obviously, better teams will amp up the pressure and take the game away in a hurry. That's really the worrying part and despite the talent level going up, the attitude still remains the same. Just look at the other subcontinental sides, and look at their level of confidence compared to ours.

This is also exactly why we cannot win Tests. One session we could be in it but in the very next we'll give the game away and we end up getting hammered. The ability is not the main problem, it's the mental attitude. Sadly, we're just mentally too weak to be a force in the game. I don't know what we can do about this. The players themselves in the end should take a good hard look at themselves and realize they still have a long ways to go and realize that they have to get mentally tougher. That comes from inside.
