We are making a big deal out of this practice match:
1. The team had a long journey including 28 hour in-flight due to visa issues
2. They had a jet lag of 3 hours and still had to play the next day
3. There is 30 degrees of temperature difference from where the players came from and where they played
4. Tamim and Shakib didnt even practice with the team and finally they joined the squad
5. We allways lose the first match against Zimbabwe... and this was it!!

If you think that all in a sudden Bangladesh is not that team that consists of players like Tamim, Shakib, Razzaque, Nafees like world-class players, you are wrong. These players can change the game single-handedly and didnt play their natural game. They will in 3 days once they are out of their jet lag, get used to the weather and get the core team practising together under the new coaching staff. No doubt it will be a hard contest but I am glad that Bangladesh team will prepare better than fall into complacency..

We seem to have ready made excuses for every occasion. Now its the flight time that is the excuse for our inability to stay at the crease, get used to the bounce and most importantly apply ourselves. We seem to forget these are professional cricketers on whom we spend top dollars so that they are in top physical shape and a bunch that had plenty of rest the last four months compared to any other international side.

The bottom line is We got bowled out twice within two days. 188 followed by 140 odd are just very poor scores against a zimbabwe attack not matter where it is being played. One can understand the batting to fail once and Zimbabwe did that too but in the next innings they applied themselves and won easily in the end.

If practice matches are ignoreable, why spend time and money for that? Shesh rate chokka marar golpo onek shunchi, but if they can't perform in a practice match against a second string team, how can you expect them to do well against the main team?

Practice match results are to be taken as practice match and use it for strategic reasons. I dont think Bangladesh lost to the Zimbabwe team,,, they lost to themselves. Do you really think a Zimbabwe 2nd team can beat a full Bangladesh national team? When the team is awake from the jet leg and well acclimated,, you will see the difference in players.

Practice match are important but they are for practicing,, not necessarily for winning or losing as fans like us want it to be. Winning gives you a good mood or confidence, if you are up against a strong opposition and losing gives you the sense of what areas you need to work on before you go for the real match.

When we went to England 2010, did we win any of the practice matches? But the first test we did take it to the 5th day.. Also, when Zimbabwe came and won their practice matches, did they win against the Bangladesh national team? I wouldnt take them that seriously as some are taking it.. The sky is not falling!!

it looked like shakib was giving match practise to guys who didn't bowled well...that explains giving many overs to razzak and robiul..with sahafiul and nasir bowling just 9 overs between them despite 2 wickets..and shakib bowling just 13...4 less then razzak who went for 4+ an over....its either this or shakib lost his mind

much needed post,I agree.
But I (we) wanted BD to score more runs & eventually win (or draw) this practice match as we have been out of international matches (specially Tests ) for a very long time,so better batting atleast in one of the innings was needed.
But neverthless I agree with u, & hope we will rectify the mistakes we made & become a different team when the main series starts.

well see the positive side... we didn't lose by an innings or 58 all out or 78 all out like we usually do. It was mega 188 and mega 147

ehh, team was probably just going through the motions. zimbabwe haven't scored at 3 an over all season...

we'll be fine for the test match, although yeah, we might have to settle for a squeaky 50 run or 3 wicket win.

i see this as a good thing. now they will wake up, like they woke up last time when Zim won the first ODI comprehensively. I will hope that will happen.

as for this match performance, woeful batting. ar kisu bolar nai.
