yeah the selectors are just what the...but if they include some guys like mominul, anamul and sohag then at least they are selecting are good up and coming group based on solid performance. with asif getting some runs yesterday even his name could be in the mix. selecting ashraful again would be a mistake.

It's a matter of worry to select an opening partner of Tamim because no opener can do a big score. But last innings Junaid Siddiqui score a century. So he is only opener to be considered.

Zunaid is not good as an opener as he is in # 3 position IMHO.

Without Junaid we don't have a lot of options at this moment. Only Shahriar Nafis is the another option because among the openers he scored some runs.

Mominul is not ready. Few 50s here and there and a century is not enough. Let him play all the NCL games and see how he performs.

Nazim deserves another chance.

Enam deserves to be in the squad. At the moment he is the most consistent bowler in the country.

Completely agree. None of the new faces have done enough yet. Considering the bowling variation, we might get 1/2 in the 15 member team.... Like Shohag & Sunny

mominul doesn't deserve it because he just got a few fifties and a couple of centuries but junaid does? this recent century from junaid is only his 4th FC century, mominul has 3 plus mominul has been scoring his runs more recently. fair enough if you think junaid deserves it but if junaid deserves it then mominul definitely deserves it to.

IMO Sunny and Enam should be taken in the XI. Since we don't have quality pacers, 3 spinners could be the best solution.

১৩ নভেম্বর শুরু প্রথম টেস্ট। তার আগে আজ সকালেই ঢাকা পৌঁছে যাবে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ দল। অথচ সিরিজটার জন্য এখনো অনুশীলনই শুরু করেনি বাংলাদেশ দল! দলও ঘোষণা হয়নি।
দুই টেস্ট, পাঁচ ওয়ানডে আর এক টি-টোয়েন্টি ম্যাচের ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ সিরিজের জন্য বাংলাদেশের প্রস্তুতি একটু ভিন্নভাবেই হচ্ছে এবার। প্রায় এক বছর পর টেস্ট খেলতে নামার আগে ধরে নেওয়া হয়েছে খেলোয়াড়দের প্রস্তুতির বেশির ভাগই পুষিয়ে দেবে জাতীয় লিগের চার দিনের ম্যাচ। টেস্টে ফেরার আগে এটিকেই যথাযথ প্রস্তুতি মনে করছেন নির্বাচক হাবিবুল বাশার, ‘অনেক দিন হলো ছেলেরা দীর্ঘ পরিসরের ক্রিকেট খেলে না। সে জন্য টেস্টে ফেরার আগে খেলার মধ্যে থাকাটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।’
গত বছরের ডিসেম্বরে পাকিস্তানের বিপক্ষে ঢাকা টেস্টের পর আর টেস্ট খেলেনি বাংলাদেশ দল। তবে বন্ধ ছিল না ওয়ানডে আর টি-টোয়েন্টি। এই সময়ে মুশফিকুর রহিমের দল আন্তর্জাতিক ওয়ানডে খেলেছে ৪টি, আন্তর্জাতিক টি-টোয়েন্টি ৮টি। বেসরকারি টি-টোয়েন্টি ম্যাচ খেলেছে আরও ৯টি। টানা ১৭টি টি-টোয়েন্টি ম্যাচ খেলার পর দীর্ঘ পরিসরের ক্রিকেটের অভ্যাসে মরচে পড়াটাই স্বাভাবিক। মাঠে সকাল-বিকেল অনুশীলন কমিয়ে জাতীয় দলের খেলোয়াড়দের চার দিনের ম্যাচ খেলার সুযোগ করে দেওয়া সে মরচে তোলার জন্যই।
প্রথম দুই রাউন্ডের ম্যাচ মাঠে থেকে দেখে হাবিবুলের উপলব্ধি, ম্যাচ প্র্যাকটিসের সুযোগ কাজে লাগানোর চেষ্টা করেছেন জাতীয় দলের খেলোয়াড়েরা, ‘আমার মনে হয়, সবাই এই দুটি ম্যাচের সদ্ব্যবহারের চেষ্টা করেছে। সেঞ্চুরি হচ্ছে, জাতীয় দলের বোলাররা ৫ উইকেট পাচ্ছে। ম্যাচগুলো প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা� �ূর্ণও হচ্ছে। সবাই সিরিয়াসলি নিয়েছে ম্যাচগুলোকে।’
ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ সিরিজের আগে জাতীয় লিগে এই দুই রাউন্ডের ম্যাচই খেলার কথা ছিল সব ক্রিকেটারের। ৮ নভেম্বর থেকে বিকেএসপিতে শুরু ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ দলের তিন দিনের প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচ এবং দুই টেস্টের সিরিজ মিলিয়ে আজ ২০-২২ জনের প্রাথমিক দল দেওয়ার কথা। এই দলে যাঁরা থাকবেন তাঁরা আপাতত জাতীয় লিগে খেলবেন না। প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে যাঁরা খেলবেন, তাঁদের বাইরে প্রাথমিক দলের বাকিরা ৮ নভেম্বর থেকে অনুশীলন করবেন মিরপুরে। প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচের শেষ দিন ১০ নভেম্বর ঘোষণা হওয়ার কথা ১৪ সদস্যের টেস্ট দল। ওই দলে যাঁরা থাকবেন না, তাঁরা ফিরে যাবেন জাতীয় লিগে।
টেস্ট ক্রিকেটে বাংলাদেশের বড় দুর্বলতা ধরা পড়ে পেস বোলিংয়ে। মাশরাফি বিন মুর্তজার অনুপস্থিতিতে এবারও তাই হওয়ার শঙ্কা। তবে শাহাদাত হোসেন-শফিউল ইসলামদের সঙ্গে যদি ফিরতে পারেন রুবেল হোসেন, পেস আক্রমণের ধার কিছুটা হলেও বাড়তে পারে। তা খুলনার হয়ে জাতীয় লিগের প্রথম ম্যাচে আশাই জাগিয়েছেন রুবেল। দীর্ঘ ইনজুরি কাটিয়ে ফিরে দুই ইনিংসে বল হাতে নিয়েছেন ৩ উইকেট, ব্যাট হাতে প্রথম ইনিংসে করেছেন অপরাজিত ৩৩ রান। খেলছেন আজ শেষ হতে যাওয়া রংপুরের বিপক্ষে দ্বিতীয় ম্যাচেও। তবে জাতীয় লিগই যে গত বছরের ডিসেম্বরে পাকিস্তানের বিপক্ষে সিরিজে কাঁধে চোট পাওয়া রুবেলের জাতীয় দলে ঢোকার একমাত্র সিঁড়ি হচ্ছে, তা নয়। সামর্থ্য প্রমাণের ডাক পাচ্ছেন ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচের বিসিবি একাদশ দলে।
১৩ থেকে ১৭ নভেম্বর ঢাকায় প্রথম টেস্টের পর সিরিজটা চলে যাবে খুলনায়। ২১ নভেম্বর থেকে বাংলাদেশ-ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ দ্বিতীয় টেস্ট দিয়ে হবে খুলনার শেখ আবু নাসের স্টেডিয়ামের টেস্ট অভিষেক। একই মাঠে প্রথম দুই ওয়ানডে ৩০ নভেম্বর ও ২ ডিসেম্বর। এরপর ঢাকায় শেষ তিনটি ওয়ানডে ৫, ৭ ও ৮ ডিসেম্বর। ১০ ডিসেম্বর মিরপুর শেরেবাংলা স্টেডিয়ামে একমাত্র টি-টোয়েন্টি ম্যাচটি দিয়ে শেষ হবে সিরিজ।

Yes very peculiar squad. National skipper captaining it? WTF. Also there seems to be every intention to pick the Haque trio for the XV...if so, why show them to the WI in a tour match? OK, just checked India played a couple of their XV vs England in a tour game...so feeling a little better that the BCB aren't morons. But still I'd have liked to sit out anyone picked in the XV.

That being said, ecstatic to see the Haque trio in serious contention and Taskin and Al Amin on the forseeable radar. Al Amin has the gayest run up and action you will see, but I saw him reach 139 clicks in the BPL so the lad has a bit of pace about him.
