I really want to believe BD cricket will do better after the toxic seniors finally retire but that's not gonna happen..after the toxic seniors go the current juniors will become the toxic seniors in 2-3 years with half the on field performance of the current toxic seniors

I don't think Tamim said anything about Shakib in this ordeal but Shakib has openly taken shots towards Tamim.

It's a pity because this is the last hurrah for this generation.
It was a cheap shot at Tamim. At this stage no one should question Tamim's commitment. He worked hard to get match fit despite his condition and he really has nothing to gain by putting his body and possibly his future physical health on the line for a game of cricket. This is the guy that also batted one handed for us. Shakib is the greatest cricketer we ever produced but his attitude towards his teammates (who shared the dressing room for more than a decade) is a disgrace. In the same interview he also dragged Mashrafee for no reason.

Ultimately he is our star player and performer. Just like Argentina can't deal without Messi, we also need Shakib to go far in the tournament. If it has to be at the expense of Tamim still we as fans have no choice.

When your root is rotten (a.k.a NHP) you are bound to be toppled when the wind comes...shakib is selfish, tamim is bit of a crybaby... nothing's new here...what is the point of 'management' if you don't know how to improve the team environment?.. it's not a technical decision to leave out tamim, give me a break please...why did shakib threatened to quit as a captain on the 17th if he's such a team man? it was personal as eff, period... personal from the bcb presidents end too.. it was evident to even laymen like us that the situation is only going to get worse and worse if you create any more drama in the team before the WC, performance of the asia cup was a testament to that...what did you do? Double down on the shenanigans...announced the squad on the 12th hour...declared a team which is bound to reduce the team morale to zero...and give them no effing time to recoup...may be it's the tamim inside me but I do feel like crying...never felt sadder for Bangladesh cricket...never

The legacy and the dressing room that Shakib, Tamim and Mushfiq will leave behind will be a poor one despite their person contributions to the team on the field.

I think Bashar and Pilot's era it was not this toxic.

https://fb.watch/nlldt0jbUd/ - Mashrafe's take. He makes good points about man management and, I think, appropriately responds to the snide remark made by Shakib about Mash leading the 2023 squad by ignoring it altogether.

I think he did a good job by dissecting the whole ordeal in a matter-of-fact manner...may be useful to dilute down the situation a little..his whole point was how no one particular player is to blame for this but rather the third parties and a clear lack of communication between them...unlike our jonogon who are either team shak or team tamim and can't stop being the nachuni buri (from the saying: এমনিতেই নাচুনি বুড়ি, তার উপর ঢোলের বাড়ি) on social media etc.

All of this will die down once the tournament starts.

Australia have just selected Travis Head in the squad despite him being unavailable for the first half of the tournament. Kane Williamson is going into the tournament 70% fit. Given the state of our opening batsmen, an exception certainly could have been made for a senior player like Tamim. I find it funny that Shakib being the most unprofessional player is now all of a sudden Mr. Professionalism. This is very unfortunate that we don’t have our best squad possible going into a major tournament due to personal enmities and petty politics.

Great insight. As talented as he is, Shakib has never been professional. Now all of a sudden he wants to pretend like he's a company man. He laid out a detailed retirement plan yesterday (to show his contrast to Tamim perhaps?). I'm sure he'll be just as dramatic once we get closer to it.

Less than a year ago when Bangladesh toured Australia for the T20 WC, Shakib broke protocol and attended a fan meet-up before the match against South Africa in Sydney. He even took Taskin with him.

Not to mention the countless times he went to inaugurate a store in the middle of a bi-lateral series in Bangladesh.

Tamim's repeated drama epitomises what I saw during three years spent at Bangladesh :
-lack of professionalism in every sector
-A misplaced sense of ego from some people who have almost nothing to back it.

I agree, saw some clips of players playing soccer, they actually play aggressively.

Also in another news, this injury of Shakib makes him look like an idiot for giving that interview with T-sports. Totally unnecessary before the WC. He maybe the best player we ever produced, but he is the one with the worst attitude off/on the field. Not a good thing for future gen
