ok, they have been treated badly. so what. we haven't been treated fairly by our cricket board and the players. if they are feeling bad about it and want to get better service then they should start winning some matches.

Big shame for CSA.
Couldnt have put it better.

I suppose if BCB does the same to the Bermudians- they shouldnt mind. After all ,they should be grateful that we have acknowledged their unworthy existence by giving them a Tour?!

Waiting to be checked into a hotel is poor management, whether it happens to a cricket team or an individual.

Failing to communicate that there was post-match interviews is poor communication and is unacceptable.

However, the suggestion that BD should be treated like England or Australia, is unrealistic and misconceived. You have to earn respect in this world and the only way to ensure BD tours are treated with respect is by playing good cricket.

Ahh, it seems from this:

http://www.bdnews24.com/details.php?cid=26&id=67763

that the BCB are concerned about the lack of security; they want to protect their players from approaches by the ICL looking. This explains why they think the hotel "team BD" are staying in is inadequate...

There is no inferiority complex in being thankful. Things could have been much worse. Eat your bullets, count your blessings, you are here for two more days, move on. If the security concerns were so great BCB should have communicated with SA before hand. Not just hoping they would give a royal treatment. Not everyone can read others mind nor do they think alike.

As a guest I for one would complain for petty matters. Did NZ complain by the way? They stayed in Dhaka, the only practice match was in fatullah, where the facilities were below any club would offer, no match played, they travel back all the way and get in to a traffic jam. They detour back to their hotel instead of the Mirpur ground. I didn't hear any complaint from Vettori, nor any apology from any BCB members or even a fan. Certainly their gripe is much bigger than ours.

Celebrity treatment paitey paitey khelar mathey kono responsibilty dekha jai na. Ami hoiley Hotel manager'der boltam hot water bondho koira dao.
categorically false.

2 points:

BCB can't do anything about the traffic situation...secondly, there is difference between not practicing and not having security in an HIV infested land.

Hey, I'm a South African who only recently found this forum. (Before series against opposition teams I generally try to find forums from their countries to get views on performance of especially SAns from a different viewpoint).

Just like to stand up for my country where appropriate and express my dismay at CSA's actions where appropriate as well.

Firstly please don’t label all South Africans as racist. Yes, we have a rather dark past, but we have come far in the past 16 years.

Secondly, there is nothing wrong with the accommodation provided to the Bangladesh team. The Hotel is considered one of the best on the African continent. After all it has a 5-star rating. I cant fathom why it would have taken them 5 hours to check in at the hotel. The hotel has an excellent reputation for quality service, and I'm sure if this is brought to the attention of the hotel management those responsible will be disciplined. However let me state that what happened at the hotel is neither CSA fault nor their responsibility.

As for the taxi-driver not knowing where Monte Casino is. Highly dubious. It is one of the most well known landmarks in the Gauteng area. Also, if the taxi was taken from the Airport then there is no way that Monte casino is a 100 km trip. I live in Pretoria, the city to the north of Johanneburg and it isn’t even a 40km trip from me. They were fleeced if they paid R800 for that trip as well.

Thirdly, yes the hotel might not be in Sandton as visiting teams have been in the past. But right now Sandton is not a preferable place to host a visiting team, as the entire area is undergoing heavy construction to prepare it for the World Cup in 2010. Most notably the construction of a high speed rail network to link the two cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, and this goes straight through Sandton. Also the hotel isn’t much more than 10-15km by road (probably 5km as the crow flies) from Sandton and the Wanderers so not that far too travel if you avoid the worst of rush hour traffic and even then it shouldn’t be more than 45minutes to an hours drive

Lastly, I understand from what I've read here that the BCB doesn’t want ICL scouts near their players and thus want security. I'm sorry, but it is not CSA duty to provide a security detail for such a task (nor would it be looked upon favourably in the SA courts if it got out that the security detail was to prevent players from exercising their freedom of trade). Also SA is not Pakistan, we don’t have bombs or separatist groups. Yes we have a crime problem, and I know one or two players in the past have suffered, but the crime is not as bad to warrant a security detail. Oh and the most retarded comment on here is about the HIV aids situation. How exactly is a security detail meant to protect you from HIV/AIDS?

On the topic of things that I am rather dismayed at is the treatment after the t20. Agreed that it was disrespectful to the opposition and CSA should apologise. That however as far as I'm concerned is all that CSA have done wrong.

Anyways hope to have many productive discussion about the on field happenings, and few to none about what happens after that.

I found one thing amusing - that BCB thinks it is SA's responsibility to "protect" our players from ICL overtures. BCB - get your head out of your you know what ....

the dorks are scared that their cash cow and means of taking shopping trips abroad is being diluted ... so block satellite, ban players, do anything besides putting together a proper domestic structure, a 2 day school cricket tourney and a divisional selector pool

Welcome to the forum Draeken.

But law and order situation in SAF is not that much good every one knows that. In the WC players, reporters, officials were told by the authority not stay outside the Hotel after 8 pm. BCB is not asking for security from SAF cricket board to prevent scouts of ICL. They are looking for security because our own national team player Sakib was mugged and physically abused by criminals in street not many years ago in SAF.

Bangladeshi team bus arrived late at airport to pickup the team.

After the T20 Ashraful and MOM Abdur Razzak had to wait 45 mins to know that there is no press conference where before the SAF's press conference SAF's media manager request Bangladesh team's media Manager to let them have the press conference first.

Draeken - welcome. Feel free to write about how your country-men are perceiving the performance (or lack thereof if you like) of the Tigers on this tour.

Agree law and order situation is rather dire in terms of absolute numbers, but the reality on the ground isnt that it is evenly spread. Probably 90% of the crime that happens in South Africa happens in the townships. (Poor informal settlements). The suburbs in which the middle to upper classes live, where most of the cricket grounds are, are for the most part not much less safe than in say England or Australia. I know that a foreign cricket player has been a victim of crime here, and that saddens me, but over all we probably have about 10 incidents of serious crime on tourist per year, and ten million visitors, so as a foreign visitor is safe if they stay away from the shady parts of town.

Agree, as I have already state that the way CSA treated the Tigers after the T20 was dismal. Not surprised to hear that it happened because most sports adminsitrators in SA are really poor. Cant think of a week in the past year that there hasnt been some mess up from some sporting body in this country. So if it makes you feel better at least they werent singling the Tigers out. They mistreat everyone.

Dont know why the bus was late, but looking at the construction going on now it might possibly have been a traffic jam. Around Johanneburg there's probably something like 200km of highways that are being worked on and upgraded for the World Cup, and a lot of those are at three highways around the airport. If you guys look at Johanneburg on google maps, you'll see ther's a ringroad around the city, and that entire strecth of highway is being worked on. (Its called the largest parking garage in Africa, because in rush hours that entire strecth comes to a stand still as well as the entire highway between Johannesburg and the city of Pretoria where i live.)

Thank u Draeken. We've agreed most of the points. You are right most of the time it was not intentional rather lack of professionalism.

Has anyone read the thing Dale Steyn said about Bangladesh:

"No offence to Bangladesh, but you don't want to be peaking at 150, you want to peak against Australia and co." He said that he wasn't in form having taken 4-16.

Sounds harsh but we have to accept it right now.

He is right, the team got to a great position around 160 but didn't know what to do from there. We had 6 wickets, two set batsmen and close to 15 overs in hand. We should have gone in to win the match, instead, we lost wickets in quick succession and were all out with over 5 overs to go.
