The Aussie bowlers are hitting good line and length. Most impressive is the field setting by Smith. It's aggressive. You feel like a wicket will come in every ball...
Let's see if they can bowl out SA in this session

A review. Umpire gave him out. Duminy review the caught behind...looks like a faint nick on the hotspot.
If the decision stands, SA will be 32/4
And yes, the decision holds.
4down

This is the best I've seen Siddle bowl in a long time. So accurate from the workhorse.

Siddle is one of my favourites, and not only because he is from my home state of Victoria. He is down to earth, generous and I never see him down in the dumps: a real team player. And a very very good test cricketer.

Good fightback by the Saffers in their innings.
But man, Warner batting with a strike rate over a 100. That doesn't bode well. SA will need to pick up wickets fast./

Starc bowled 19 overs in a 65 over inning, returning from an injury/still inured. And he wasn't "over bowled" by a Mushy. He mostly bowled 3-4 over spells of total 7 spells. Highest being a 6 overs spell. The conditions required of him bowl those overs. He was nicely managed. Smith wasn't like, "uh! One more, give me one more," and he ended up bowling 9-8 in a row.
Test isn't about bowling a fixed set of number of overs. Fast bowlers have to go in to be able to bowl 20-25 overs/innings. So people who suggest that Taskin should play tests on the merit that he should only bowl set number of overs don't know they are talking about. If Taskin plays in NZ expect him to have to bowl 25+ overs if he's effective. Don't blame the captain of over bowling him then.
Taskin is not ready for tests, especially not in pace friendly conditions where he'd be required to bowl more. I'd rather play he play in that one off India test where he most likely to be less effective and therefore wouldn't be as active.

Warner into the 80s. But South Africa have tighten up their line and length. Steyn and Philander operating at the moment.

Yes true, but I gather Australia are batting with more positive intent than SAfricas' top 4.Looking at the Saffie dismissals.
Yes i'm a Stoinis fan, averages 40 whereas Marsh and Henriques average around 30,maybe its his Italian heritage. His bowling is improving took over 10 wkts in the Matador cup and had a good IPL.

Kagiso just bowled a beauty to dismiss Khawaja...around the wicket, serious movement off the pitch, Usman played forward and the ball was too quick for him, knocked out his off stump
167/2
Steve Smith

Their is a lot in this pitch,Marsh holding round his innings with true grit.
Usman plays like a millionaire,NZ attack struggled downunder.
But in other news Steyn off the field with a shoulder injury, with no allrounder apart from Dumney if you consider him that,2 pacemen left.

Looks like Maharaj has dismissed the Aussie captain. Reviewed.
LBW decision, given out by the umpire. Umpire's call
He's out.
168/3
Smith out for a duck

If we can get a 50+ lead could be vital, but S Africa will be short in the bowling now, gives the lower order an even chance.

^ Why did ABD not tour, and how did Steyn injure himself?
I feel like Steyn will need to call it quits soon

Mark Nicholas just mentioned Miraz and Shakib's exploits of English batsmen.

mitch marsh is the biggest passenger in world cricket. Sure he might be a handy bowler but he is primarily in the team for his batting and never has he shown any ability with the bat whatsoever.
