What is UV talking about? If they have 10 days window (off season) then why do they even have to worry for off season testing? There is no offseason, period. They can pee on cup before every series start.

no its not. this whole security issue is being blown way out of proportion. same with privacy.
suppose a player is out with his girlfriend cheating on his wife and doesn't want anyone to find out. well, in this case, you have 90 days to reschedule the tryst and still make WADAs obligations. unless of course your girlfriend is giving you steroid shots.
as for safety issues, WADA is a big body and they should provide adequate security for the 1 hour. the idea that terrorists will know whereabouts of the players is BS, cuz we already know that information by looking at the fixtures page on cricinfo, watching espn, reading the newspapers, or just being a sports fan.
IMO, its a case of the BCCI trying to flex its muscles again, and also trying to see how far they can go.
if people care to plan ahead, they can have a reasonable idea of where they will be one year in the future, let alone 90 days. of course unforseen things happen, but WADA isn't doling out strikes for that. there can always be mitigating circumstances.

Al, you don't have to plan 90 days ahead at all. You could say you'll be at your home on October 1, and then update it on September 30 that you are actually in Easter Island.
24 hour availability does not mean that the inspectors will come knocking at 3 in the morning. You have to tell them an hour at which you'll be available and only then can they disturb you. Unless you intend to be with the girlfriend 24 hours a day, it shouldn't be a major trouble.
Quoting from an interview with Abhinav Bhindra :
Quote:
For Beijing 2008 gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, Tuesday morning was slightly different — and WADA was duly informed. Bindra, who lives and trains in Chandigarh, decided two days ago that he would be in Delhi today, so he logged on to his account at http://adams.wada-ama.org and made a small entry.
From 7 to 8 every morning, 365 days a year, Bindra has made himself available for investigators of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to come knocking for a surprise test. Today, since he was driving down to Delhi at this usual ‘available’ time, Bindra moved the one-hour slot to 5 to 6 pm, at his home in the Capital.
Entries made by the athlete are expected to stand for a quarter of the year, unless he/she changes plans, like Bindra did for today. “So I logged on, clicked on the box for August 4, 2009 on the calendar, disabled my usual testing slot, and entered the new evening one,” Bindra said.
If investigators arrive and the athlete is not exactly where he/she is supposed to be, he/she still has that one hour to make it back, said Bindra. If you are unable to get back, however, your information is deemed to be incorrect, and three such misses within 18 months would constitute a punishable doping violation. Ineligibility from competition, ranging from a period of one year to two, would be determined according to the intent or degree of fault.

If this is really the state of affairs, I am not sure whether they have a right to protest the terms. When you are a sportsman, especially in cricket in India, you are giving up your privacy on your own in exchance for money and glamour.

"ওয়াদা" ভঙ্গ করা আমাদের নেত্রীদুজনের জন্য সহজ ব্যাপার।

No big deal ..I am sure BCCI will come around. If some cricketer does not think he can do it he rather quit !
BCCI needs a push and will fall in line ! I dont want to pay money to watch steroid pumped cricketers, I rather watch WWF for that .

And apparently Indian cricketers winning the fight
ICC seeks to explore cricket-specific WADA code - report
http://in.reuters.com/article/cricke...42194920090903
CHENNAI, India (Reuters) - The International Cricket Council will ask the World Anti-Doping Agency to consider a cricket-specific code for its controversial "whereabouts" rule, ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat told Indian media on Thursday.
The influential Indian cricket board rejected the WADA directive last month, backing its players' refusal to sign up over security and privacy issues.
The ICC became a WADA signatory in 2006 and world cricket's governing body last year unanimously approved out-of-competition tests on players in accordance with amendments made to the code.
The issue is yet to be resolved and will be discussed by the ICC board in October.
"We will ask them (WADA) for a cricket-specific code or a relaxation of the whereabouts clause," Lorgat told DNA newspaper.
"For the time being, we have referred the issue to our executive board. We will take the matter from there. The issues need discussion with a broader range of people. The code cannot be country-specific."
