I wouldn't mind if we went undefeated in the Qualifications, and as it will have official ODI status, it might boost our averages.

Don't want to increase average playing with the weakers it will decrease standerd. You can see most of the strong teams don't want to play with us because they think playing with us doesn't give any benifit for their players. They don't think boost of their average. So no negative opportunity.

There will be 2013 qualifiers I think, like how the 2011 edition had a 2009 qualifier. It gives two years for the associates to prepare (visas, training) and get used to 90 mph bowling in the ICC high performance centre in Dubai.

If that is the case than the ICC should scrap the pts system and start Afresh for this cycle.

it should always be bottom 4 full members vs top 4 associates (winners and top teams of the world league). bottom 2 vs top 6 isnt fair.
though the game is progressing, ICC should only bring the best of the associates to the world cup, not as many as possible. top 4 of the associates get a chance, at 4 spots. much more competitive, and fair to all parties involved.
and the bottom 4 spots in the ICC has never been in doubt.. West Indies with their shabby form, NZ with their losing streak, Zimbabwe's rebellion, and of course our mediocrity ensured that.
the bottom 4 vs the top 4 of the associates cud become very interesting.

I would rather have a qualifier and beat crap outta associates including Ireland and Zim and make it to the WC THAN listen to haters who shout out loud saying Ireland should play instead of Bangladesh.
Bring it on !

It would be very unfair if it is just Bangladesh and Zimbabwe that have to go into a qualification stage with the Associates.
Automatic qualification should go to the hosts of the tourney and then top 3/4/5. Otherwise there are going to be cases where some teams are going to pick up ranking points easily by beating top teams that field a weakened/rested team, like recently when WI twice beat a India team that rested a lot of its first teamers.

i agree...WI and NZ aren't much better than us, if any better at all. they should join the ranks of BD and ZIM.

even Argentina Brazil, Germany Italy has to play qualifiers for WC football , no problem if we play qualifiers .......
what qualifiers will give us is some games against teams just below or about equal strength of us. with our current ability we must beat them regularly which will give us some winning habit which we need because when we play the bigger teams we tend to loose more.
and if we can make through the associates to qualify for the finals then we dont deserve to play the wc, simple enough.

We better be number 8 or 9 by then. If we cannot be, then we surely deserve the treatment. Time to quit whining in Sissyville, BD.

I don't understand why people are so afraid of qualifiers. If we are a good team then we should beat any associate anywhere. I don't think that the system of qualifers is unfair.
Picking bottom 2 test teams and not 4 also looks very fair to me. If you see the top 8 teams they are the ones which reached the QF of the world cup. And the ODI ranking has been based on performance of 4 years. A team which has been beating more teams has a better ranking. A team beating less teams has lower ranking. Bottom 2 + 6 Associate is a good prospect.
If the WCQ is held in Scotland as planned earlier I see a real threat to both BD and Zim. Afghans with their seamers, Ire, Scot and Neth due to favorable conditions will have a massive edge over us. People can doubt over it but I strongly feel so.

in the future only India and Australia will play cricket and rest of the world would give up if this continues.

again we should not be afraid of conditions as we too have bowlers and we should expect our better quality batsman to adapt to the conditions.
we have beaten pak, aus, eng in british conditions before.
and afghans may have some pacers for British conditions, but do they have batsmen for British conditions, they will struggle too.
final word is if ICC decides that the bottom ranked team(s) have to play qualifiers and if we are ranked in the bottom at that time then we have to play qualifiers. now then we have to prove that we deserve to qualify. or we have to up our rankings to prove that we deserve automatic qualification, not through qualifiers.
so lets make our statements in the field ...... not in the papers

i personally feel a 12 team world cup should be played. 9 teams will get automatic qualifications. another 8-9 teams will play the qualifiers to decide the final 3
