If we can win without the star man, then that will tell us a lot how the team will do in the tournament.
I'm expecting a few big results for sure. Overall, our bowling attack is strong. The only thing that's missing is a genuine leg spinner which a lot of the other sides have. Shabbir can bowl a few overs, so he may come in handy.
The only thing that worries me is the batting. Yes, we have Tamim at #1, and Mushfiqur at #4 but #2 and #3 is still a worry. I know Shakib is at #3 but his batting has not been quite the same, but he's the best we have there for now. One of Sarker/Liton will have to partner Tamim, but I'm going to go for Sarker due to his experience and all-round ability, with Liton having to sit on bench. However, against India, I'll consider Liton for Sarker unless Sarker has a great tournament. Sarker is one of the very few that can get the run rate going along smoothly.

This entire injury thing could have been avoided if they dropped shakib down the order to 5 or 6 so that he wouldn’t have to risk injuries batting for longer time winning this dead rubber but no our wise guys need to have him batting at 3 again as if he is some 19 year old needing experience at that position. They could have easily promoted sabbir or Mosaddek to have some bat out there.
We don’t need him to beat WI tomorrow though but hopefully this idiocy won’t cost him a match at world cup

I would just swap Shak with Miraz and also drop Rahi for Reza/Saifuddin. Problem with Shakib not playing is, you are forced to strengthen both batting and bowling department

If shakib is not playing we have no option other than to try both liton and SS, can be a good experiment
my team would be
Tamim
Liton
SS
Mushfik
Mithun
Mullah
Saif
Miraz
Mash
Fizz
Rahi
As Mullah is not bowling we will need 5 bowlers. Taking Reza who is neither a bowler nor a batsman is not going to achieve anything IMHO

Saying this, a part of me wants to see how reza would do. Since he had good number of wickets and quick fire runs in domestic cricket. at age 32 he should be at his prime or twilight of his prime both maturity wise and skill wise
but TBH i don't expect much

Ramiz Raja has done a preview of Bangladesh's prospects at the world cup in his channel, but its in Urdu so not that much understandable for me, did get a gist of what he is trying to say though

The good news is that unlike some other sides, our side will have more than plenty of support.

Very good analysis. His audience is Pakistani. Yet he clearly said BD is ahead of Pak. Several ways.
The point his statistician made was excellent.
1) Tamim scores century very slowly. 125 balls. Virat 100. Bairstoy 79, Roy 83. These wasted balls adds up to the end total where Eng Ind lower order take advantage.
2) We score 9.5% 6s in the end overs. Meaning only ONE six and a HALF. Mushifiq and Mash needs to bulk up to score more sixes and get the desired totals like other lower orders can achieve. They may not know Mosaddek - Shabbir. That is good.

Seems like Scotland is playing couple of matches against Lanka. Could have had another tri-series right there

stat doesn’t take into account the amount of matches TI plays in BD wickets..mirpur’s avg score is around 250 and that affects the number of sixes hit as well..

Atleast yours was a typo. I know a British Sylethi who thought current captain was called Musfiqur who became an MP

Excellent observation. However, his centuries at Dhaka (5) has higher strike rate than away centuries.

interesting..but I think it’s a bit unfair to compare Tamim to the likes of Barristow and Roy..if there’s one top order that can play without fear, given the depth of their batting lineup, it’s England..we are certainly at the opposite end of the spectrum in this regard

Yeah great point. England have batting quality down to #11. Absurd. Our batting quality stopped at #6. The rest were walking wickets. We're a little better off this time round.

Make Tamim bat at # 3 with Soumyas and Liton opening! Normally the best batsman of the team bats at #3 (such as Kohli, Smith, Du Plessis etc.) and statistically Tamim is our best batsman!

We need to take every match very seriously. don't forget Bangladesh still has an unused quota of "messing it up" .
pretty much every opponent is beatable

The ENG-PAK match should be a good lesson for our dolly droppers in last match including the keeping of Mushfiqur.
Hafeez added 70+ runs after that drop by Roy, which made all the difference.
The caught behind of Morgan by Surfer was the other turning point.
Shekh bhai shekh
