Congrats to both SL and WI to make it to the semis. SL has looked very solid in this tournament. WI on the other hand looks shaky.

Looks like Pakistan will be out of the tournament. Just don't see them beating Australia. It'll be between SA and India in the end. It'll be interesting to see who wins out in that match up

^ Pakistan doesn't have to beat Aus to make it. They just have to make sure they don't lose to Aus as bad as India did, and that should be enough for them. While for India and SA to make it they not only have to win, but also make up for the runrate.

^If India wins and Pakistan loses don't they just go in regardless of what happens in the Pak/Aus match? Since they'll have 2 wins compared to Pakistan's 1.

Group 2 is still wide open. Pak-Ind-SA all can qualify

Pakistan

Pakistan's passage is not straightforward even if they beat Australia. Even after winning, they'll have to hope that India don't beat South Africa by a bigger margin and sneak past them. If, for example, both Pakistan and India score 160 and win their last matches by ten runs, then Pakistan's NRR will be marginally lower than India's.

India

Like Pakistan, India too need to win to have any realistic chance of qualification. If India concede 160 and lose by more than three runs, their NRR will slip below that of South Africa. If India and Pakistan both win their matches, the margins of those results will decide which team goes through.

South Africa

However, if Australia do beat Pakistan, South Africa have a fair chance of making it to the next round, thanks to poor NRRs of India and Pakistan. As mentioned above, if South Africa score 160 and win by more than three runs, their NRR will go above India's, enough to qualify provided Australia have won all their matches. The advantage for South Africa and India is that they play the last game of the group, and will thus have an exact knowledge of what they need to do to qualify.

I have a feeling that SA might sneak in.

Too bad they will choke in the semis. I hope they go through though. SA have more exciting squad than India (excluding Kohli).

I wanted WI/NZ and SA/AUS. But too bad NZ got knocked out. I'm glad ENG did. It's one of the most fuglest team in the whole tournament. No KP, no Bell. Too bad for McCullum and Ross. Their bats will be missed for the next 3 games. But Malinga is there, so that's not all that bad. Plus they are the home team, so I don't mind SL going through.

WI has to be in the final or it's an automatic fail.

Agreed that SA is far more exciting than India's. Steyn and Morkel are great to watch and then their batsmen are also fun to watch. I'm also glad England's out. It should get their media and fans back down on earth. SL once again impress on the big stage.

PAK will lose to Aus but don't think India would. Indian grandfathers still seem to have their mojos to beat the weakest S8 South Africa. SAF seems to suck at T20.

Aussies thru
One place left either India or Pakistan what a irony!
India has to win by min 35 runs now against SA if they have to defend 149. IMO SA should gifts this high unlikely win away for atleast IPL's viwers sake.

SA 90 for 3 and 8 overs left

India will be out unless they can bowl out S Africa before they reach 121

Du Plessis has been immense today
