Looks like the Lankans desparately want us to play a bit of cricket before seeing us off.
No Malinga, crucial for our batting.
No Chamara, crucial for our bowling if we manage to get the top order out again.

From the TV footage the ground looks pretty good and people are not doing too much work on the ground. Even the a strong sun is out... to hold of play just because a small section of the outfield is wet is ridiculous.

if we somehow pull off a win, it will be tainted without the likes of the front line players.

The other AK's better than he has ever been based on what I've seen in the NCL. His ability to change batting style is something everyone can learn from. His bowling in FC matches looked better than ever also. His ODI bowling's not too hot, still on the expensive side.

It still is the fastest. Agree.

Actually, I don't know if it's really only available in South America, I may be confused with something else, but I do know that stocks of that clay have dried up globally.
Either way, the price of the clay must have gone up quite considerably, here's what the curator had to say last year:
"The clay percentage has dropped probably 20 percent from its heyday," Sutherland said. "That has been replaced with sand and makes for a wicket more like the eastern states. It is still going to be a pretty good wicket in terms of pace and bounce, but it is still not going to be like it was 20 years ago when Lillee and [Jeff] Thomson were steaming in."
They've also been using a new variety of couch grass to give the pitch some added bite but all are stop-gap solutions.
I wish I knew more about pitch preperation.

Not to mention our best all-rounder.

If it is a 30-35 over match SN must play instead of Javed.

Thank you.
Even the likes of Lawson, Alderman, McDermott reaped benefit after the Lille-Thomson era in Perth. Only recently, we have been noticing the decline in pace and bounce. Thanks for the info.

as of now, it is incredibly sunny. The huddle of groundsmen to the west of the stadium are not there anymore ... hoping for a 15 min start.

Isn't the squad already named and SN is excluded from it? If not, then I do agree with you, we should play SN instead of JO since the match will be shortened.
