lol Perhaps!

I always backed him up at the ODI format though. Very stylish batsmen once he gets going.

He is valuable in the ODI, but for some reason he stinks in tests (lower batting average than ODI). In the ODI, he has saved us from middle-order collapse many times. He is quite handy with the ball also in ODI.

i still believe mahmudullah should be in both our ODI and test squad.

his talents and skills suggest he should be batting up in the order (3-4-5) but he has this mental block for which he is not performing there. if he can sort this out he can be a good option for no 3-4 in ODI's and tests.

i dont see too much hope for him in T20s. only when he can establish him as a good no-3/4 in ODI's or Tests only then i will call may be now he can be tested in the top order of the T20 XI

Do we know for sure that the captain and the coach wanted him to bat in top order i.e. did they approached him explaininh what they expect from him ? Something like "You are a batting all rounder but mainly a batsman; there you need to bat at #4/#5 and be suceessful to justify your inclusion; because of your skillset and our need in the team we cannot justify your inclusion batting at #7".

If they didn't approached him at all, then I guess the sissy is someone else who doen't want to confront him. May be he is too bully for the team selectors (Captain, Coach, Chahchu, ??) to even approach him with the idea and enforce that.

Default this was probbaly one of the worst decision by mushy

the only change wouldbe make this team best would be by picking riyad instead of gazi , nz have only 1 or 2 left handed batsman , so riayd couldbe most likely play a big roles on that , and usually a very effective bowler , i dont think that was a right decision by mushy . riayd had runs in DPL he also had runs in last odi matches against zimbawe , plus he had a century against nz , so their is no any good reason why musfiq wouldbe opted him out , now we had to miss out a specialist batsman for no reason might be a big loss if top order cant get a run , even cricinfo criticized it http://www.espncricinfo.com/banglade...ry/678339.html

Are you sure that you read that cricinfo article properly? It pretty much says the opposite of what you are advocating; it backs up the decision in selecting the extra bowler instead of a batsman at No. 8.

Mental strength is a major factor in cricket. Marshal Ayub has the courage to bat at #3 and riyad don't have. Even Mominul showed the courage to bat up. First Riyad lost the #4 now lost #3,and ultimately losing position from the team. If you are a good batsman u should bat up. Every time Riyad offered to bat up re has refused. Ultimately he is in the Bink of extinction.

From cricinfo: " According to sources, Mahmudullah, currently out
of favour in Test cricket, was asked whether he
would take over the No.3 role. He wasn't too keen,
it was learned. There were also thoughts of
promoting Mominul or sticking in Jahurul Islam, as
Anamul Haque would be opening the innings with
Tamim Iqbal."

he's limiting himself to the lower order, how low i don't know, maybe he's willing to bat at #5 and #6 as well as #7 and #8 but how does he think that will happen with shakib, mushy and nasir performing so well? he needed to move up not just for the teams sake but on a personal level if he wanted his career to move forward then it only made sense to take the opportunity of batting higher up the order.

he must really dislike responsibility or he's scared of batting top 4 for some reason.

Despite having all the ingredient if some one fail to perform for his team then Responsibility is on the player. Riyad don't have the courage to bat at #3-4 its looking rediculas to me. Nijer paye nije kural Marlo Riyad.
