BDFlag Let's form a rival to ICC with Bangladesh at the head

:-)

I make this suggestion only half-in jest.

I suspect we'll advance further playing lots and lots of games with Holland and Afghanistan rather than the once in five years series against one of the big three.

This'll spread cricket around the world too.

I thought the OP is a senior pro..

Read between the lines, he means that the current ICC (Big 3) dont give enough opportunities to us to play against quality sides, so theres the frustration which is valid.

thik bhujlam na.

Revenue is made in sponsorship. Who is going to do that?

Plus we can still do what OP proposes while being an ICC member, no?

"Again, the reason to go to a 10-team [2019 World Cup] tournament was done for a number of reasons some time back. Number one probably it was a format that would generate more competitive cricket and secondly more value. If we're honest with ourselves, a tournament which involves a guaranteed nine Indian matches is worth substantially more than a tournament with less Indian matches. And of course the money that's generated from that event is for the benefit of all members including the Associate members."

How ICC really thinks nowadays! And he did really say that unfortunately, I know it sounds like a joke...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-worl...ry/994995.html

ICC has done a lot for Bangladesh we should be grateful no doubt but it needs to stop this mindset of revenue earning coz some teams need to be playing, if the ICC chief has this mentality then there will sure be some bias... In my opinion this was a pathetic comment and should not have seen the light of the day

Ever since this guys is in ICC, the cricket has become a sacred thing. Only few countries have full rights to do whatever they want to do and others can only look for those mighty members mercy on them.

In spite of making cricket a global thing, he has always been against it. He is devoid of principle. Only knows how to make money even if that hampers the spirit of the game. His statement proves that ICC does not want India to get out of any tournament before Final but they want more matches involving India. And here comes Bangladesh, who keep threatening India kicking out of the tournament !

This is what would happen,ICC and India would ban Bangladesh and sanction her as well as any nations that came with her, like ICL it was effective the 2nd strategy would be to sign all the worthy Bangladeshi players to long term contracts and it would be filthy rich cash, thats what they did with ICL.
Its called business and all is fair in love and war.
Remember IPL came out of the ICL saga.
BCCI have rich pockets, they would not allow this to develop,in the end it would crush the BCb and the players left.In the end the BCB would grovel back but their original power reduced.
But as we do see with the BCCI they would forgive as they have forgiven West Indies 42 Million dollar pull out,and Sri Lanka a vote against the big 3,took 12 months but it happened.

A separate cricketing body is always on the card. BCCI takes pride in IPL, don't forget the man behind of IPL himself might come forward with an alternate governing body of Cricket.

Quote:
ICC run as members' club, not governing body: Modi

Mr Modi's blueprint envisages a rival calendar of events to the ICC's, based on Test matches and T20 games.
"The plan conceives only of Test cricket and T20; it doesn't take into account one-day at all," he said.
"I think that is completely redundant in today's day and age. I think it should just be T20 and Test matches that should be played."
Mr Modi said that because the ICC was run as a members' club, and not a governing body, there would no hindrance to a rival breakaway body being established.
Neither did he envisage a problem in paying huge sums to marquee players.
"There was a report that ran on the front of The Australian newspaper that said '$100 million pay cheque for two of your players'," he said.
"I think that's an easy cheque to write; I just put it this way. I say, that would be an easy cheque to write, and if that cheque is easy to write then 'would I get the players or not?' is a question you should ask the players, not me."

We all know he is a crook and always looking for a chance. People like him is not good for cricket. However , I won't be surprised if associate teams and other angry boards wants to collaborate with him and threaten ICC for being biased. I don't want to have a different governing body but if ICC does not act timely then there is always people like Modi to take advantage of the situation.
