Default What's wrong Shakib?

He's bowling pretty poor by his standards and batting hasn't been that good either.

What's wrong? Is it because of the pressure?

He is letting others have the limelight for a change.

But seriously, he is in a funk. Lets hope he works it out of this system before Saturday.

Every player goes through bad patches. So he is now.

He always throws wickets in situations when the team in not under pressure. On the other hand, he normally bats well when the team is under pressure. When he came to bat today I told one of my friends that he will get out in next few balls. That's what happened unfortunately.

But I am not sure what happened with his bowling. Probably it's because of the pressure as you said.

Captaining Bangladesh in World Cup in front of the home crowd, the pressure got the best out of him. Having a Habibul Bashar moment, atm. Inshallah he will deliver against South Africa.

Under pressure Shakib wouldn't have thrown away his wicket.

He is due a performance now, which suits us perfectly, because Saturday is when we really need Tamim and Shakib to perform.

I have noticed something in tamim as well as Shakib, these two don't take 'small' teams very seriously. Shakib just gave his wicket to NED today and Tamim has looked a bit off against small teams for a while.
For instance, Shakib bowled magnificently against England and was not upto his standards today. Maybe I am reading too much into things, but i hope Shakib/Tamim take the centre stage on Saturday and earn the most important victory in our cricketing history.

Can Shakib be a little tired. The poor boy has not had a break for months. However, even when he is not bowling well, he still manages to get key wickets.

I can understand his off-form with the bat. Evenry body goes through it.

But at the same time, his bowling has declined. That worries me more.

It's kind of big deal against SA. He must perform with bat and ball. He is getting too much into captaincy & Controversy. He needs to concentrate more on his performance.

Both Shakib and tamim have taken a dive in form since they got the captaincy and vice captaincy. We need them to step up not fall away so let's hope their 50s on a flat wicket against india were not just flashes in the pan. Contrast this with imrul two 50s on a difficult pitch at chittagong, whereas Tamim got bowled through the gate twice by straight balls and shakib played awful shots that were not needed for his team.

I feel that he felt no urge to perform against lesser opponent now a days. Look at his record in DPL or in NCL

In regards to the bowling, don't forget he's been bowling to either the best batsman in the team and or during powerplays and thats probabaly why he's been going for more runs.

Actually all the spinners are bolwing inth epower play.

Against Eng, they started with Razzak followed by Naeem in the power play.
Against Netherland, they started with Razzak followed by Shakib and then used Shuvo.

I don't what you meant by only Shakib is bowling against best batsman.

May be bad form or patch...but we all gota admit he is spending time in more thinking about the team, representing the team, doing all sorts of ads, ipl contracts, off the field and in the field dramas, yellow journalism, conflict with the BCB and he is only 20 something. No matter how smart, capable or different you are than the average human being, these things in life bound to have some sort of impact on you. Some people can take all these things and still be successful, but there are several cases when all these "distractions" take out the best from you.

If he needs to go back where he was, he needs to ask him the question and look at him in the mirror if he is ready or not to take all these responsibilities. May be all these extra responsibilities, distractions, politics impacting the player Shakib.

That's why he should give up his captaincy to Ashraful and concentrate on his batting and bolwing. Ashraful now a days is not doing anything anyway, so let him do all the thinking with the fear of losing form as he already lost it long time ago... negtor abar jojja ki?

In 2007, though Sakib was 4 yrs younger, he bowled well against SA, hope he does the same again.
