BDFlag Petition to appoint Mushfiqur Rahim as captain of Bangladesh

Crash out of WC at home - including two lacklustre performances.

Test series defeat to lower-ranked Zimbabwe.

ODI series defeat in the first 3 games of a series against a lower-ranked opposition. First series loss to Zimbabwe in years.

Numerous unnecessary controversies since being appointed captain.

I don't see how any captain can retain the job after a string of pathetic performances like this.

At the moment I don't see any other candidate for captaincy other than Mushfiqur Rahim.

Signed also I want to Kick out Imrul Kayes for good. Shakib's gala gali and the way he cursed at the fielders was not a good sight for me.

Not yet. He will be captain when it's time. I don't know when that will be. But for now, *whip* Shakib until we start winning some matches.

Why was his vice captaincy taken away? He needs to bat in the top/middle order - that's no rocket science, but unfortunately it took the management long enough to realize that. In fact I doubt they have, given the way he's still moved around up and down the order so frequently.

Shakib is not a good leader to me.He is not a hard working person.I want a change.Definately Mushy is a good option.

At the end of the day everything else takes a back seat and the results are what matter. Fielder derke joto icha gali dao no one will care as long as you win. He is just not producing the goods. He has been in charge long enough and this team is going nowhere under him. If it were up to me he'd have been out after the World Cup along with JS.

Let Mushy grow more(as a batsman),if he becomes captain he will start to loose it.

I like one thing of Mushy that is he is very hardy working and constantly improving.I can remember 2 years back he was an ordinary wicket keeper and batsman.Though far away still he getting close to be a worldclass player.

Change of captaincy is not the solution for the team. As ATMR said, whip Shakib until the team comes to shape again.

though good job on his batting today

Bad solution...captaincy is only part of the problem..not the whole...we need to bring more changes to the team and the management before we think about captaincy.

Mushy is too young and needs to grow further.

BTW***Will there be another thread next week to change the captaincy again!!

Then its time to change captaincy, since the entire team management has allready been changed. But the problems reamin.

But ya, I don't expect Mushy to be captain at this time. let him be a confident/consistant performer with bat & gloves first.

For some reason I don't see much leadership qualities in Mushfiq. (Hold your guns before you fire at me). Yet I can't ignore the fact that there's only very few who is on the line to follow SAH and him being one of the top contenders. I hope he can develop that as he matures (also his performance) but currently a change in captaincy is not needed.

I don't think changing captaincy should be our first priority. We need to re think our selection process, national team IS NOT a place for players to find their form, it is a place where players at the peak of their game come and play and win games.
Also, stop this 8 batsman bulls***. Take 5 specialist bowlers in every game, if 7 batsmen can't do the job, I doubt the 8th will make a difference.

Also, if we have another SLA in the team in the next 15 years, I will go to every single coaching centre in Bangladesh and whip all the SLA bowlers. [Sadly, three of our most promising spinners are SLA, so I may have to go tour Bangladesh]

Shakib has talent no doubt about that, but he is for me too unwise to be captain of the Bd cricket team. he has a sh*t brain as you can see from his performances. Yes he scored runs, toke/takes wickets he has talent but no good brain. For he isn't captain material. Rahim should get it, he has that bound with every one and is lively and tries motivating the others unlike shakib who looks dull and miserable and he makes stupid choices and decisions . I also think Mahmuddulah wont be bad, I've heard an interview of his I think it was in NZ, where spoke quite wisely, sounded like a gentleman and not kiddy naive minded with poor English like shakibs. I think, mahmuddullah wont be bad, he looks calm, thoughtful, doesn't seem to have any problems with others, seems to look not arrogant or ignorant, looks well built. but his performance aint been good to put his name up for the captaincy.

Shakib is not a bad captain but he is a poor leader. With lots of controversy in and outside the field.I think Shakib should be worned that next series will be his last series unless he rectify himself.

I don't think he'll become a good leader and can be named after one good performance,Do you guys want him as your skipper based on one good performance with the bat? If it;s s o it's ridiculous. To me Bangla and Zims are equally matched sides no favorites here, The side did less mistakes won it today and series.

He played very well today. Although the last shot was not needed. He knew it was a bad call and hung his head the whole walk back.. Sad times..

I think he'd be a good captain
