Should we forget them!!!
As there is cool breeze blowing over the BD cricket now(sensational victory over India, first ever test and ODI series victroy), we are now very into the current BD cricketers' statistics and their performances. But in this very occassion we shouldn't forget about those former cricketers whose unforgettable devotions to our BD cricket are real note-worthies. Minhazul Abedin Nannu, Gazi Ashraf Lipu, Aminul Islam Bulbul, Akram Khan, Faruq Ahmed, Roqibul Hossain, Athahar Ali Khan, and some others too (can't remember now) are those dedicated players whose contributions are not forgettable. They have been playing since 2 decades and that makes cricket lively even those ups and down years in BD cricket history. In this joyful event shouldn't we praise them for their contributions?

Sure We should. Actually most of us did , still do and continue to do so as long as some of their die-hard fans stop dreaming about their comeback in national team. Only then the controversy starts....

interesting thing is none of our old good players were bowlers, infact i cant recall a single quality spinner(or pacer) from bangladesh, the best we got so far i guess is rafiq and now enamul if he can keep the promise.

Their 'consistency'? I don't know what you mean. We had good players in the past, one or two of them probably would still be good in the international circuit but 'Consistency' has always been a problem for all of those palyers.
If by 'consistency' you mean the BD should improve consistantly, then I beleive it is happening. Slowly, but it IS happening.

Consistency here is the overall performances showed in the recent series against Zimbabwe. Basically openers as well as the middle orders got runs and also bowlers like masrafe, enamul, tapash, rana and last but not the least rafique took consistent wickets. I just want to mean these consistencies shouldn't be lost in the forthcoming series.

I just wonder when Akram Khan and Aminul Islam Bulbul will come ahead and do some administrative job for Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Atahar & Faruque are national selectors, Atahar is a commentator now, and Gazi Ashraful Lipu was a manager for the BD national team in the past (so he has done his job as a former cricketer).
I think Jahangir Shah Badshah is doing some work for the BCB now, Golam Nowsher Prince is the 3rd member of our current selection committee, Raquibul Hasan is doing something; well majority of our former players are currently working for the BCB one way or another except for Minhazul Abedin, Akram Khan and Aminul Islam.

Well Minhazul Abedin just recently retired from first class cricket. But I hope he will involved in cricket soon. Akram Khan is now playing as the captain of Chittagong in NL and also played for OLD DOHS recently where he made them champion. Aminul Islam is migrated to Australia and is playing for minor country cricket, at the same time he is taking coaching lessons too. So I think all of them are still involved and hope still they have lots to give to our cricket.

During pre test era, I think Prince was the best pacer.

Wasn't Prince a left arm medium fast bowler? Do anyone remember another left arm fast bowler named Anis. He sparked once against a foreign team (England A, if I'm not mistaken), but later disappered from cricket.

Anis was horrible. Probhakor marka runup and jump, and all sho-sha, and then the ball bounces like six inches from the ground. I don't think his balls even carried to the wicketkeeper. I don't know how he got wickets. He is a quality pacer, if we consider Khaled Mahmud Shujan a quality slow bowler. They both seem to take wickets out of batsman's lapse of concentration/pity.

His prime time was 95. I remember his bowling during that SAARC cricket(95) tournament.

I do remember Daulat. He was very fast in his first over then just wither away. By his fourth over he would be exhausted. Looked kinda like Merv Hughs.

I remember another spinner Omar Khaled (Rumi). Pretty useful with the bat as well. He was a leg spinner, I think.

There was another spinner. I only remember his nick name, Lintu (or Mintu or something like that), Physics major at Dhaka University.
