If we win the toss we should bowl first!
Well from the various accounts of the pitch it seems to me that bowling first on winning the toss is the best option for us. The pitch is supposed to be prettty lively early on, but should ease in a couple of days i.e. it will progressively get more consucive to batting. Of course there is the small matter of winning the toss .

I have a bad feeling of toss loosing, sent to bat; and yet again we encounter another batting nose dive crash

When 1 of our top order (1-3) scores a test fifty, we have a good chance (60 out of 100) that we score more than 250 - but in order to do that, we have to win the toss and bowl first - as pompous indicated.

Did anyone read the cricinfo preview article on today's test match? I thought it was a very nice article. May be the author did not know that Rana was not playing. Or is he playing? I know lot has been debated about this issue on this board. But I felt even worse reading how international journalists view Rana.
Anyway, here is that link:

I agree that a win in this series is probably unlikely but I find it much more enjoyable to follow the matches with a winning mentality. Given the amount of team spirit we currently have, I am sure if WI players make mistakes, our players will take full advantage and as long as we keep the winning mentality, instead of feeling like losers, we will succeed

fielding first ? hmm....usually that's a should. But to me...bat first. History tells us...we get tired of fielding and that affect the concentration of our batsman (lame excuse but that's the way it is..). As Batting is our moral weakness...BD should go for the batting.
In any case...we all know the end results.

I think you need a little of Tiger's enthusiasm. Get in the winning spirit.

I think our batsmen are going to survive better if they follow these 3 rules:
*Don't go fishing outside off if it is a good ball
*Don't follow balls going down the leg (happened too often in the ODIs)
*When good bouncers are bowled duck and be safe rather than trying to play hook shots
Our top batsmen are skilled enough to play WI bowling attack and I hope they prove this today!
