Toss: Win and Chase! Stupid Management

Its a no-brainer to win the toss and decide to chase! how stupid can the incompetent management be? if you analyse (assumption) the last one+ years of match's played (International) in Bangladesh, you would realise that 85% of the time, a chasing team has won most of the match. Why our stupid captain and management decide to Bat First, I really don't understand.! lets look at example of today's earlier practice match (Dated 14/03/2014) Zimbabwe won by 7 wickets (with 3 balls remaining), U.A.E. won by 6 wickets (with 7 balls remaining), these are some example's. here you see that Bangladesh have decided to Bat first against Ireland, according to the 85% assumption, I have made based on previous results. It is likely that our team MIGHT end up losing to Ireland today.

Yes, but those match's especially against Afghanistan, they should have been bowled out much earlier than expected, its our fault for giving them the win. Against Sri Lanka, its just chaotic batting, not because we decided to chase.

What if I told you that in our last 6 matches we chased 5 times, fell short EVERY single time

And in T20s toss does not matter much IMO

Under floodlight I would bat second because of dew factor. Unless I have quality fast bowlers.

This was a practice match.. We can't have it our way all the time.. so we course to bat.. Prepare for the worst

MohammedC, in the Asia Cup Final, Pakistan had quality fast bowlers but yet they failed to defend something in the region of 250+. how comfortable it was for Sri Lankan batsmen to score those runs, while chasing. I think its more about how the wicket eases out in the second innings than having a world class quality fast bowlers. its dishearting for our boys! they are fighting against the odds by selecting to bat first.

For me it depends on the opponents. Against a minnow side like Afghanistan or Nepal I'd bat first. But against top teams we're far better off chasing because our batsmen are not good at assessing the pitch conditions and work out the par score, and bat accordingly.

Mushy should just loose the toss every time...in that way fans wont be able to bash him, why he took batting, why he took bowling etc. etc...

well I stand corrected, fans will still bash him...they will say why cant he learn "how to toss", "toss 101", "toss for idiots"...

We should never opt to bowl 1st to teams lesser than us. Thats a negative attitude. Against teams that are above you its a different story

How is the pitch?

Runway.

Daynight game?

You bat first in runways and day night game where you can see the ball better. put a decent score. The pressure is on. That is for test and ODIs.

This jodi laigga jai/abjab/poisha poisha format.... I still think you bat first but the margin of error becomes smaller in the opening spells in the second half. And if the spinners bowl short ball to release pressure then what would you do?

scoring 15 runs in the last over is not easy unless the the bowler gift wraps it wide noball loppa short ball. Shala Malinga'r theke shesk ki bhabey yorker'er "ogni gola" churtey hoi.

we don't know how to bat in T20s, and when we bat first we get lost as we don't know how much we can score, we are better at restricting the opposition for a gettable score & chase , even that is not guaranteed but our bowlers are not good at defending but better at restricting the oppo to a reachable total.
