Default Bangladesh's new Football coach: ZORAN DJORDJEVIC

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

ZORAN DJORDJEVIC
Now BFF has their own takla.

Serbian football coach Zoran Djordjevic left Dhaka yesterday morning with a positive impression of the popularity of the game in Bangladesh.
Djordjevic had been in preliminary talks with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) over a coaching job but he said that nothing concrete or definitive had been discussed.
“We really haven't had a serious conversation yet. I am here to help and the challenge of coaching Bangladesh is something that every coach will be willing to take,” stated the 57-year old.
“There is a strong football culture in Bangladesh and the spectators are wonderful, “ he stated while speaking to The Daily Star over phone.
Djordjevic was until recently the coach of Indian league side Churchill Brothers where he led the un-fancied side to a shock I-League triumph.
Djordjevic believed that the SAFF Championship was a landmark tournament for Bangladesh and it could propel them into the international stage. But he said it was upsetting that Bangladesh did not manage to make it into the final.
“The team played without high motivation or spirit, against India, which is why they lost, “ he observed.
Ironically, four of his Churchill Brother's crew performed heroically for India in that match and in the whole tournament with goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharja and free-kick specialist Robert Lathlamuana especially catching the eye.
“They are both very good players, and performed well for me [Churchill Brothers] in the I-League this season. They have a bright future,” said Djordjevic, who also became the first foreign coach to win the I-League.
Djordjevic also believed that with proper management, Bangladesh football could definitely improve a lot.
“If you have professional managers working for the benefit of the game, then football is bound to improve,” he said.
“Talented players from all over the country must believe that he can earn a spot in the national team. If you can manage everything properly, then development is a matter of time.”
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin confirmed that a deal was far from done.
“We are still holding talks. At the moment, we are looking for some further references from the places he [Djordjevic] has worked before.”

So he's only been interviewed? It's not confirmed yet.

Whoever gets selected, I hope they are given some freedom. The same old domination and ignorant interventions from the BFF bossess should be stopped.

Wondering how our senior players will react to his experiments.

Okay, people. I remember around 9-10 years back, a football tournament was held on in Bangladesh. We played 2 matches. Won 1-0 against Malayasia and drew 2-2 with Hungary. And I also remember Ghana participated in that one too. Anyone remember what exactly that event was?

I'm guessing it was some sort of "Bangabandhu Cup Football Tournament" in previous Awami era ('96-'01). I have a feeling I watched 2 games at Dhaka Stadium. A 10th grade Brazil team also played in that cup.

Yes Pasha bhai that Brazil team was a joke. I still remember that chubby captain. Later we came to know it was a sort of fraud case. Other teams were also junior or lower division teams.

The field was also very bad. Super muddy field. It was a total flop show.

Salauddin when first came to the screen he said that he would not appoint any coach for two months. Guess what he did? Appoint Zoran for two months. Now you know what kind of power Badal Roy and others have in the system as well.

He has vision, I give him that. He has plans, I give him that. He don't have balls. How can he implement his plans?

Politics has ruined everything in our nation. No offense to the politicians but they are devils.

Zoran is a crazy b*****. I see no reason to think he made a big difference to Bangladesh team in 15 days. Dido was the one groomed all the young players that brought us gold in SAG. What BFF need to do is to track down Dido, send him an apology, and beg him to come back.
