Absolutely immature
44.6 Kumble to Habibul Bashar, OUT: got'm! comes down the track and swings hard, misses the target by miles, Karthik does the rest, Habibul Bashar out by a long way, Horrible shot to say the least, third wicket for Kumble
A true captain, a leader will never attempt such disgusting shots when his team is down and out of a match and for what ? 2 runs ? 3 runs ? Isn't the objetive clearly to stay at the wicket for as long as possible and maybe even try to make India bat again ? We were already down by 3 wickets, need another 200+ runs to avoid another follow on and our beloved captain COMES DOWN the TRACK and SWINGS (?) at a spinner who has already shown how dangerous he can be onthis turning wicket. Even a third grade club cricketer has more sense than SUMON. What kind of example do you think someone like him leaving for the younger players ?
Khomar ojoggo. Ekbaar holey bujhtaam, dui baar showa jaai but every single match ? Every time when the team needs him to stay calm and see it through ? After this, I have lost all respect for Sumon.

I think he needs to go out to the middle of the wicket, take a mic with him and apologize to all the cricket fans for losing his wicket in that manner.

At least he played pulls well today.
Hope he won't do this kind of things in the 2nd innings and make a good score

Looks like he was pretty comfortable. What's with him nowadays - family problems ?
I feel like snapping his neck like a twig !

Words are not enough to explain about his irresponsible attitude when the team needs him most to stay in the middle. Whats his problem? Too much self confidence??

You may find good things in his out, too. After seeing captain get out by trying an ambitious shot, Ash and Aftab will be more careful about shot selection.
Isn't this kind of a way to set example to younger players, apart from scoring big hundreds?

"Hey, it wasn't an irresponsible pull shot after all"- thats going to be his response in tomorrow's newspapers! When the wicket is so true and both you and your partner are scoring freely- what was biting you to come down the track is my question. Just imagine, if we had continued the way these guys were going we could've easily made them bat a second time. Which means stretching the game to at least the 4th day and possibly the 5th day. This is how our players should think of the game- its not about winning or losing. Take baby steps- play till the 5th day i say- thats a major accomplishment!

Ganguly is a very mediocre fielder, but does Yuvraj or Kaif think about it when they field?
Bashar's out won't do anything negetive for the younger batsmen

Captain Have-a-Bash\'s last hurrah !
I am glad that Tehsin started this thread. This should be Bashar's last test as a captain. I can understand , to some extent, his penchant for hooks and pulls. This is because his defensive technique against short pitch delivery is very poor ! That is why he got hit in the rib-cage which made him change his strategy today. He did start the day by trying to avoid to hook after his Dhaka debacles. His attacking of this type of bowling is acceptable as long as he chooses the balls on middle and leg stump line. He gets into trouble when he starts to drag balls from outside the off stump.
But what cannot be forgiven is the manner he got out. In the very first over , he played off Kumble, he dances down the wicket and get stumped ! He destroyed probably what would have been Bangladesh's best test match batting session ever !! I am saying this after due consideration. In Gros Islet and Dhaka [2000] they batted well too ! But this is a far more potent attack. They dominated beautifully, particularly, Ashraful. Ashraful's attacks , on the other hand, was not random. He was aggressive but his aggression was based on the merits of the ball he faced. Bashar's was not. He gave me the impression that he was not entirely comfortable.
Who should replace him ? Mashud.

this is a fluke, his average although doesnt tell the story. ive seen this guy play numerous times and if anythign is outside the off stump or anthin big to hit, hes goes pscho, and goes after them. he doesnt understand the situation, so when he does gets 100's its all luck. he either gets dropped or close lbw decisions.

62.2 Harbhajan Singh to Mohammad Ashraful, SIX, MAX! comes down the
track and lofts it over the midwicket fence, excellent use of the
feet, lovely timing
Bashar take note, this is how to hit a six.

ewww...that was gross...
honestly, this is utter irresponsibility...as a senior member of the team, and more importantly the captain, this is the last thing we want from him. is he nuts? crazy? and he goes into press conferences boasting about the way he plays...i mean what the hell? was it necessary? at all? was the required run rate going up or something? this is afridi stuff...totally insane...except that afridi makes contact but this guy does not..in fact he's far from that!

Shewag makes way more footworkless slashes compared to Bashar. And he also scores more runs and bigger centuries (almost all of his 100s are 150+)
