Afghanistan in Ireland ODI Series 2019
Afghanistan just lost the first match vs Ireland pretty badly , something to cheer about for Ireland. One match remaining can Ireland win the series ?

It was a very low scoring game. 348 runs 20 wickets fell. None could bat 50 overs. Belfast. Not the type of wicket we just played on.

Remember when Afghans smashed 280 in a t20 game at Dehradun?
Then ODIs on same pitch Afghans barely scored 200 as Irish boys drew the series 2-2.
Belfast wicket was fine. Both teams just lack world class batsmen like BD has.

Hmmm!!! BD is too inconsistent to have World Class batsmen. In form, I would consider only 2 as World class pure batsman. Tamim and Soumya (Conditional). 35 average is not world class. It has to be 50+. Just like Mominul had it in Test for a while. Sarkar had it in ODIs.
Yes, we have a World Class alrounder. And Fizz. And Mash (Captain).

looks like every team is trying to get some game time in the british conditions. Sri Lanka has a series with Scotland as well. Only teams missing out are ind, aus, and nz. Ind and aus play in england so much, they prob dont need it, but nz will be at a disadvantage.

Belfast wicket is not suited for batting, I went to check other scores in this stadium and almost all the matches are low scoring

And then Afghanistan posted 305 and beat Ireland comprehensively.

Afg responds with a very professional display the very next match. No, this is no Bd on the come up. Their growth curve is much more pronounced. And it's good for cricket really, for a sport where the highest level is internationals, you want all these new nations to get caught up to speed faster than their predecessors.

Calm down people it's 1-1 in the end, and not 1-1 vs England. They still should have swept them 2-0 considering what we saw in tri series

To this day I don't understand how a man as blatantly unfit as Shahzad can be so successful. Kudos to him.

He is way fitter than he appears.
It’s not easy to keep wickets for 50 overs and then open.

Not in the same league but Ranatunga and Gurusinha were also fine examples of sporting a nice bulge

Suppose I'll just stick to "fat" as the adjective, then.

Refer to Inzi

Tbf cricketers are genuine athletes more often than not these days. The days of Inzi, Ranatunga and Gurusinha are long gone.
All the more reason I can't fathom his success. But as Miraz implied, "fat" doesn't necessarily equate to being grossly unfit.

I am trying to fathom why AFG will change captaincy from Asghari to Gulbadin. Is that a Phil Simmons effect?
