বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের (বিসিবি) চাকরিতে থাকাকালীন অনূর্ধ্ব-১৩ ক্রিকেটারদের ক্যাম্প পরিচালনা করতে তাঁকে যেতে হতো বিভিন্ন জায়গায়। এরপর কখনো একাডেমীর আবার কখনো জাতীয় দলের সহকারী কোচ হিসেবে কাজ করা খালেদ মাহমুদ এ ভূমিকায় বেশ লম্বা একটা সময়ই পার করে ফেলেছেন। তবে ঘরোয়া ক্রিকেটে সফল এ কোচের কাছে উপভোগ্যের দিক থেকে সবচেয়ে এগিয়ে থাকছে খুদে ক্রিকেটারদের নিয়ে কাজ করার ওই অভিজ্ঞতাই, 'ক্রিকেটারদের শেখার বয়স এটাই। আর শেখানোর সুযোগও বেশি। তাই অনূর্ধ্ব-১৩ ক্রিকেটারদের ক্যাম্পের সময়টা ভীষণ উপভোগ করতাম।' ক্লাব ক্রিকেটে কোচিংয়ের পাশাপাশি এখন ব্যবসায়ও মনোনিবেশ করা জাতীয় দলের সাবেক অধিনায়ক আবারও খুদে ক্রিকেটারদের নিয়ে মেতে ওঠার সুযোগটা পাচ্ছেন।

বেসরকারি উদ্যোগে প্রতিষ্ঠিত বাংলা ট্র্যাক ক্রিকেট একাডেমীর হেড কোচ হিসেবে কাল পাঁচ বছরের জন্য চুক্তিবদ্ধ হয়েছেন সাবেক এ অলরাউন্ডার। বাংলাদেশে 'বাংলা ক্যাট' নামে ব্যবসা পরিচালনা করা বাংলা ট্র্যাক লিমিটেডের অর্থায়নে এ একাডেমীর যাত্রা শুরু হয়েছে অবশ্য অনেক আগেই, ২০০৮ সালের ১ মে। এর সঙ্গে মাহমুদের পরিচয়ও নতুন নয়। সেখানে যাতায়াত ছিল নিয়মিতই, 'আমি যখনই রাজশাহী গিয়েছি, একবার হলেও একাডেমীটা ঘুরে এসেছি।'

প্রতিবার গিয়েই তাঁর মনে হয়েছে, 'একটা ক্রিকেট একাডেমী যেমন হওয়া উচিত, এটা ঠিক তাই। বাংলাদেশে এমন একাডেমী আর নেই।' এর সঙ্গে যুক্ত সাবেক ক্রিকেটার মুক্তাদিরের তথ্যানুযায়ী সুযোগ-সুবিধার দিক থেকে বিসিবির একাডেমীর ঠিক পরেই যে এটাকে রাখতে হয়। রাজশাহীর কাপাসিয়ায় ১১ একর জমির ওপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত একাডেমীর ক্রিকেটারদের প্রশিক্ষণ যাতে বৃষ্টির দিনেও বিঘি্নত না হয়, সে জন্য আছে ইনডোর। মোটামুটি বড় মাপের মাঠে ন্যাচারাল উইকেট তো আছেই, আছে কংক্রিট ও ম্যাটের উইকেটও। সেখানকার ক্রিকেট শিক্ষার্থীরা ব্যবহার করতে পারছে জিমনেশিয়ামও।

ওদের জন্য কেনা হয়েছে বোলিং মেশিনও। ওদের পরিচর্যার দায়িত্বে আছেন চারজন লেভেল টু কোচ। ৩০ জন ক্রিকেটারের আবাসন ব্যবস্থাও আছে। এখন একাডেমীর ১০০ জন ছাত্রের মধ্যে ৭০ জনই বিনামূল্যে সব সুযোগ-সুবিধা পাচ্ছে। এমনকি ক্রিকেটের পাশাপাশি পড়াশোনাটাও চালিয়ে নেওয়ার জন্য অর্থ সহায়তা দেওয়া হয়েছে অনেককে। এদের মধ্যে পাঁচজনের সর্বশেষ এসএসসি পরীক্ষায় জিপিএ-ফাইভ পাওয়ার সাফল্যের কথা উল্লেখ করে একাডেমীর চেয়ারম্যান আমিনুল হক বললেন, 'ওদের পড়াশোনার সুবিধার্থে শিগগিরই একাডেমীর আশপাশে একটা স্কুল প্রতিষ্ঠারও পরিকল্পনা আছে বাংলা ট্র্যাক লিমিটেডের।'

অনগ্রসর অঞ্চল থেকে ক্রিকেটার তুলে আনার এ কার্যক্রমকে আরো সচল করতে তাঁরা শরণাপন্ন হলেন মাহমুদের। ক্লাব ক্রিকেটে আবাহনীর কোচ নিজেও বাংলা ট্র্যাক একাডেমীর ছেলেদের নিয়ে কাজ করার জন্য মুখিয়ে আছেন, 'আমাদের দেশে বিদেশি কোচরা এসেই প্রশ্ন তোলেন, ছেলেরা ছোটবেলায় কি শেখে? আমার চেষ্টা থাকবে ওরা যেন এখন থেকেই শিখে ভবিষ্যতের জন্য তৈরি হয়।' আপাতত ঠিক হয়েছে, সপ্তাহে দুই দিন মাহমুদ একাডেমীর ছাত্রদের হাতে-কলমে ক্রিকেটের পাঠ দেবেন। সুযোগ হলে সময় দেবেন আরো বেশি। আরেক সাবেক অধিনায়ক খালেদ মাসুদও রাজশাহীতে নিজ উদ্যোগে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছেন একাডেমী। এখন পৃষ্ঠপোষক পেয়ে যাওয়ায় সেটার কার্যক্রম আরো গতিশীল হয়েছে সন্দেহ নেই। এবার রাজশাহীর আরেক একাডেমীর দায়িত্ব নিলেন মাহমুদ। রাজশাহী বোধ হয় দেশের ক্রিকেট আন্দোলনের চারণভূমিই হতে চলেছে!

Another Private Cricket Academy in Rajshahi. Sounds promising. BCB should come forward and help these academics in providing some facilities and coaching stuffs. Appreciable work from Bangla Track Ltd.

This is indeed a great news and I was thinking so while watching on the TV news on it. Not only Rajshahi division a large number of rising, young cricketers from rural areas across the country will gather there to fulfill their dream as they may not be able to be in BKSP or any other rich Dhakaia Cricketing Coaching Center. this kind of private initiative indicates the affluent persons are interested to invest on Cricket. Moreover, giving the directorial stance to former BD cricketer is appreciable as those talented cricketing brains will be utilized further to enrich our grasshood cricket.

^ Its just the beginning. Hopefully many more companies will come forward and invest in young talents. Somebody has to take some initiatives and thankfully Pilot & Bangla Track have taken it. Now, others just need to follow them.

Just out of curiosity, what would be the organisation's source of income since everything is provided for free to 70% of the cadets. I assume they are not a charitable organisation.

Bangla Trac Limited (conducting business under the name ‘Bangla CAT’) which holds the dealership for renowned Caterpillar engines and equipments in Bangladesh. They have been very successful in providing power generating machinery & construction equipments in Bangladesh and they have a good financial back up.

PS: It should be "Trac"/ not "Track" in the title.

It has to be in places like Rajashahi, Iswhardi, Potuakhali etc. as land are not that expensive and still availble for a relatively chepar rate than Dhaka, Chittagong, Coxs Bazar or Sylhet.

The investment in Rajshahi cricket is pretty evident in their cont. wins in NCL, sourcing of national cricketers etc. These acemy's can become center of excellence and training grounds like MRF foundation, Bank etc... They can also raise funds by sponsoring these kids but also attaching ad money or endosements from potential companies...

All in all, another reason to be hopeful of BD cricket's future..

this is a shame dat other reasons esp. CHITTAGONG despite having all those billionaires and good participation in cricket board (e.g. Ispahani group), they don't have any one who can come up with such initiatives.

Talnet wise, ctg kids can better any one in the country (they are the current champion of school cricket), but, unfortunately, they are not going to get their chances anytime soon.
Money is certainly not a factor. it's about petty politics.

rom what i have seen during all those years, i can safely say, the narrow way of thinking will lead chittagong cricket only towards one direction... bottom!

In Chittagong, they had initiatives in the past,, the Star Cricket, Nobel Academy, Khan family all did piece meal things.. but nothing like Bangla Cat where they have acres of land and dedicated staff!!

But thats the thing about Chittagong though,, they will splurge money, sponsor their dead father's tourney for a season or two or show-off their cows each year but will never donate money for greater good or sports unless it is Jobbojjer Boli khela!! After all, what do you expect from Khatungonj's showdagors? .. (Being a Chantgaiyya, I can be harsh at my own species!!)

There are so many businessmen in Chittagong, its really sad not to see them coming and investing in sports activities. AK Khan himself can build 10 cricket academics in the country. Its nothing for them.

নবীনদের জন্য আঞ্চলিক একাডেমি হচ্ছে: লিপু

ঢাকা, জুলাই ১১ (বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম) - বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের (বিসিবি) পরিচালক গাজী আশরাফ হোসেন লিপু বলেছেন, নবীন ক্রিকেটারদের গড়ে তোলার জন্য আঞ্চলিক একাডেমি তৈরির পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে। মোট সাতটি আঞ্চলিক একাডেমি তৈরি করা হবে বলে তিনি জানান।

বর্তমানে নতুন ক্রিকেটারদের প্রশিক্ষণ দেয়া হচ্ছে জাতীয় ক্রিকেট একাডেমিতে। এটি জিপি-বিসিবি একাডেমি নামে পরিচিত।

বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে সোমবার টুর্নামেন্ট কমিটির সহ-সভাপতি গাজী আশরাফ বলেন, "জাতীয় একাডেমিতে দেশের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলের সম্ভাবনাময় তুরুণদের নিয়ে আসা হয়। এই ক্রিকেটারদের সহায়তা করতে কয়েকটি আঞ্চলিক একাডেমি তৈরির পরিকল্পনা আমাদের রয়েছে।"

তিনি বলেন, "একাডেমিতে ডাক পাওয়া ক্রিকেটারদের জন্য এটা একটা পুরস্কার। মূলত ১৯ বছরের কম বয়সী খেলোয়াড়দের একাডেমিতে আনা হয়।"

"আঞ্চলিক একাডেমি চালু হলে বিভিন্ন এলাকার নবীন ক্রিকেটারদের মেধা পরিচর্যার কাজ শুরু হবে। আমরা অনেক দিন ধরেই আঞ্চলিক একাডেমি তৈরির কথা বলছি," বলেন সাবেক অধিনায়ক।

তিনি বলেন, "আসছে ইজিএমে এ ব্যাপারে চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হতে পারে। তবে এখনই হয়তো সব অঞ্চলে একাডেমি তৈরির কাজ একসঙ্গে শুরু করা সম্ভব হবে না।"

সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়ার পরও একাডেমি তৈরির কাজ শুরু করতে একটু সময় লাগতে পারে বলে উল্লেখ করে গাজী আশরাফ বলেন, "এই কাজ শুরু করতে দেড় বছর লাগতে পারে। প্রাথমিকভাবে গুরুত্ব অনুযায়ী, একটি বা দু'টির কাজ শুরু হবে।

ঢাকা বাদ দিলে সাতটি আঞ্চলিক একাডেমি তৈরি করা হবে বলে তিনি জানান। বলেন, এক্ষেত্রে ঢাকাসহ মোট একাডেমির সংখ্যা হবে আটটি।"
