Tamim and Shakib Captained after the tea break: Kalerkontho
According to Kalerkontho, the team management gave the captaincy duty to Tamim and Shakib for the duration after the tea break since Mushfiq was 'under pressure':

Ok, found the English version of the news on The Daily Star:
A stormy Tea break
many will be more curious to know about what actually happened at the Tea break in the Bangladesh dressing room as the hosts demolished their opponents -- who went into the break at 100 for no loss in chase of 273 -- after coming back onto the field. And it seemed from that point on vice-captain Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan seemed to be control the match.

Take the floor now Dilu.

This news should have bells ringing at the BCB, if the the test captain can't captain a side to a win and starts losing the plot during crucial phases of the game then he doesn't deserve to remain as captain.

I already gave my one cent in this in the Tamim Official Thread. I'm exhausted.
But thanks for opening this. Now I wanna hear from the Mushy apologists.

Rahim himself should hand it over after practically saying 'guys I can't handle it, someone do it for me'

Rahim is never gonna hand over. Did you read the article on his reaction after the reporters called captain before the test series? He said something like it felt good to be called "captain" again etc etc. Translation: I am not happy my captaincy was taken away in ODIs where i was doing so tremendously well . Only option is to sack him or induce a "obhimani retirement" from captaincy

Don't really know how true kalerkonto is, but the fact remains Mushy is one of the worst captain in history. From field placing, bowling rotation to body language and leadership skill, he is weak on all areas. If he was at least decent on one of the aspects, we could have still tried him.
I hope Mushy steps down as test captain now (it will be hard to sack him after the win, especially with all the politics that goes on). This would give 2 months to prepare for the NZ series and the team can bond under the new leader..In fact this would be better for Mushfiq as well, as he can concentrate 100% on batting and keeping on a long overseas trip.

Wow, so much of theories and stories. Wonder how Mushfiq conned to get those 7000 runs he scored for his country, or how he's spent the last 10-12 years being the first in and last out in the nets. We are seriously an ungrateful lot-no better than effigy burners and stone pelters. All this talk after winning, wonder what would be said had we lost

^ His captaincy is at question, not his character or work ethics or his batting.

^ Jeesh, it's good to keep players at check and to keep expectations very high. Also, it's about the present, not the past. Sometimes certain players get "untouchable" status, and overbuy their time in the team. And then there needs to be activism to get those perpetrators out of the team. Just as with Ashraful. CONfiqur is the next Ashraful with his repeated shortcomings as wicket keeper and as a captain, and recently also as a batsman. That's a triple strike for you.

Only in Bangladesh we ponder retirements for our players before they turn 30 as if they have a predetermined expiry date. Players have their ups and downs. Good players always find a way back.
This guy is only 28 years old. Sanga made his debut at 25, let that thought sink in.
Shakib had his fair share of critics last few years, but he's bounced back. I ve seen so many posts in this forum calling Mashrafee the liability in our side. Before Hathurusingha took over, Tamim was the number 1 target of all boo boys.
For all the things these guys have done for us, they deserve a bit more time and respect. Dont give up on them so soon, have faith. We are better than that.
As far as captaincy is concerned, if the coaching panel want a change in captain, Hathurusingha isnt someone who ll keep quiet.

This
Too many nonsense theories and such. You can easily tell that our fans don't follow cricket outside Bangladesh. It's a new thing for us because we have so many players senior players. Have a look at SA and notice that Faf, AB all take a role in making decisions regardless of who the captain is.
During the time of Ganguly's, he would ask for advice from his players.
And what pressure was Mushy really on? He had something else to worry about? Tamim, Shakib, Mushy all were going to get the stick if Bangladesh lost.

Tamim, Shakib, Mushy they have been doing these things like assisting each others by giving advice or helping hand to each others since their under age groups. So, nothing new here that Tamim and Shak were placing players or guiding players in the field. This is the way usually these three work together, if you haven't paid attention earlier in bd matches.
about captaincy, I never saw any captain in the world who is perfect for everyone, doesn't have any lacking, you often here commentators have their own idea in commentary box against any captain's idea that's say no captain will make you happy or go like the way you think.

Yes you are right. But Rahim is not blameless in this situation. Fans are fan... some are more tolerant... some will be less....some will be more patient ... some will be less.
Yes Rahim has contributed in the past a lot, and in general term fans will be little bit sympathetic. And we all know when a player loose form, its not his fault.
Then Why am I saying Rahim is not fully blameless for this situation? here are few reasons:
- He is a below par wicketkeeper all through his life and still resisting (the best he can) to give away his WK even he in his own mind knows that is the best for the team.
- He is a below average captain. The team needs more attacking and intelligent captain. He doesn't necessarily proved a capable leader (unlike Mashrafee, Sakib) as a role-model to our young talented players. He had a tendency to throw young players under the bus to save his own rear. He get nervous too quickly and get more defensive when fielding too quikly.
- As a senior player, he is at times terrible with the press, creates unnecessary controversies that hurts the team. he is also proved himself as a drama queen in the past, that cannot help a captain.
- He is struggling as a batsman... but refuse to give away additional responsibility and concentrate more on his batting alone.
May be some fans are frustrated to the point that they hope (against hope) that he will retire and force the issue. Yes its too exteme to some fans.... but you know what? Desperate situation require rastic move.... may be that's why they are thinking that way.

But but but ..
He is set for next 20 matches as a batsman. He has scored a 50. He is the second coming of Bradman.
In this test all top five player scored more than 50. EVERYONE of them including Shakib.
Mushi's contribution is 13. Best batsman boile kotha. He is #8 for our team.
Even Hom, who just came in scored more, contributed more.
With the drop catches and missed stumping he has allowed England to score 90+ runs in the 1st innings. These are things get unnoticed and overlooked by the Golden Boy fan club.
Yes, Last 18 month, he has shown that he needs time off to think about his game and focus.

@ Nadim and other apologists.
Any comment on this Mgmt coup? Giving reigns to Tamim-Shakib?

Wow, when you are jumping at Kaler Kontho (which makes Fox news look Pulitzerish) as the source to fit your narrative, then you are clutching at straws.
Mushy as skipper is not ideal. But I'm not convinced TIK or Shakib should be given it. For TIK, it impacts his batting - he's our best batsman. For Shak - he doesn't use our pacers well. Riyad, by all accounts _COULD_ be the guy. But then again, it's Riyadh!
Here's a left-field thought. Why not Kayes 2.0? He's now as much of a regular on the Test squad as any.

I don't trust KK either. But since Daily Star has reported the same, I believe this story.

Bhai, I've seen TiK and Shak take charge of specific moments before. The three of them have known each other since they were teens and as another member posted, I don't think it was anything like a "demotion" by Hathuri. He probably challenged the 3 of them to act like they wanted to win.

One interesting thing I remember.... During the reign of Shakib, shakib always chose the bowler who will bowl, but Mushfiq always set the field.
Since the bksp days and later u-19 days Mushfiq has always been shakib's captain..... And then when shakib became national captain, shaking always asked mushy to take on the field setting responsiblity
