Default Securities issues in cricket tournaments/matches

Well, i just want to know what BC members think of this issue.

Yes, our skin color is not white and we are not a target (anywhere; India, Pakistan or SL).

However, in recent past we played in Pakistan twice. We should be the expert consultant, don't you think?

Today I read the article at Cricinfo about how the PCB reaction was on the ACA's recommendation to their players.
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/iccc...ry/365596.html

For cricket boards, shouldn't they take heed ICC's security report (spanning of several month of observation by the security team) or go with the independant secuirty report done in less than three days?

How big is the security threat to the Aussies, English, Kiwis and springbok cricketers? (And the SA just toured Pakistan less than 12 months back - mind boggling)

They love their lives...and so they're "holding" the lungi tight, and running like a noakhailla...only this time, there's no goru with them.

Pardon me for over generalizing and stay true to the spirit of this thread.

The shada's love their lives, yet will jump from a skyscraper or a bridge ( bunjee ), mess with wild animals, cruise down a category 5 rapid in a puny canoe, or camp out near a mosquito infested swamp in the middle of nowhere

You didn't get it.

The REAL similarity b/w Shadas and Noakhaillas is that both are scared of other "people" who are not of their type.

In your examples above, the shadas are not messing with other people...hence...

Alright, the threat level in Pakistan is just as similar to SL (by their independant reports). Yet they are okay to move the tournament to SL (out of all places)?

India enjoys all the perks Pakistan does on terroristic activities. Even at times more. Yet IPL matches are okay for them? KP wants a piece of the pie? England one of the vocal protestors of Zimbabwe, can't control their own security. Yet, they speak of the security issues of others.

This issue is very important. 2011 we have world cup matches in Pakistan. Should the feared nations again question the security concerns our chances of hosting comes in jeoperdy (cause Pakistan is co-host).

You fear when you don't feel like going, you become daring when the rate of return is more. So funny!!

I have close family members married with Noakhalis. We are not from Noakhali.

One amazing thing about Noahkhali though. In North Bengal, almost all masjid er imam are from Noakhali. I have seen it in far flung areas of Rajshahi district.

In a way you are right. Shada's will take grave risk when its their decision to do so. Hence, all the death defying activities. However, if the situation is not in their control, they are scared to death, and will avoid it at any cost..

Depends on how you determine threat level. Here are a few criteria:

1. Are there Muslims? Or are the majority Muslims?
2. What do they use for disobedience? Bomb, rocks, or sticks?

If this is the formula you use, definitely it makes sense.

I used Noakhaillas just as a Term, not as the people from Noakhali.

Ekbar Noakhailla boila fapor e porsilam...friend er bashay khele bolsi choli (referencing the Noakhailla attitude)...so friend er ma responded - "Taate ki hoise? Amio to Noakhailla"...

IF PCB manages BCCI to ban players who are not coming to Pakistan from playing in IPL then they would come irrespective of threat level. When SA players and Pietorson talk about security of players some body should remind them SA is the only country where players were physically assalted. (Saqlain was robbed; Cairns were beaten by bouncers).

Good point, thebest bhai. If some bombing happens in India right before IPL, will our shada brothers refuse to play IPL because of security concern?

And just a few days ago, there a series of bombing rocked several parts of India, still no one would have had any problem touring there if the champions trophy were in India.

I think one member of the Aussie Cricket Association came close to answering the questions regarding the apparent double standard. He said it today and it basically went like this though I don't have the exact quote : In Pakistan, the 'westerners' are a stated and deliberate target, but, in Sri Lanka or elsewhere, they are at most a 'collateral damage'..

Thats what he said..

No chance. PCB might try. That would mean the banishment of such stars as Ponting, Hayden etc. They make the money for the IPL franchises.

This is an extremely valid point. What makes Pakistan a scary proposition for them is the fact that westerners have been deliberately targeted by the militant ilk.

however, one could point out that technically only the english are considered "westerners"...haha.

but in pakistan, less than 1 in 1000 victims is western. so no difference from actual chances of getting hurt between pak and lanka...

IMO, boards should pay a fine of 1 million each to PCB.

also opens a bigger path for us to play. my only cocern is health of fast bowlers should we get the call up.

countries like Australlia, England, South Africa, New Zealand needs to Realize that if there is any potential Taliban type issues, then the US army will take care of it...

still, they are unwilling to tour Pakistan. maybe it's not only Taliban they are worried about, they are worried about the current situation as Musharrof Resigned and PCB board executive resigned, there is a good chance things could get hectic, everyone just needs to be patient i guess!
