NCL Stat Analysis 2011
Knowing others will put in their valuable analysis later I just wanted to start with a simple analysis based on 3 matches completed so far in NCL.
This considered top 10 performers so far to see who came up in top 5 in all three comparison - one for batting and one for bowling. Interestingly only one player in each department came up on three criteria (shaded in colour). Please note: % of Mdns is included as it's important to be able to consistently bowl 6 good balls over after over rather than bowl good balls and 1/2 overs sporadically here and there.
BATTING:
Total Runs | Strike Rate | Batting Average | Saghir Hossain | Dhiman Ghosh | Dhiman Ghosh | Shuvagoto Hom | Alok Kapali | Anamul Haque | Anamul Haque | Shamsur Rahman | Alok Kapali | Shamsur Rahman | Anamul Haque | Maisuqur Rahman | Nazimuddin | Shuvagoto Hom | Nazimuddin | | | | BOWLING: | | | No. of Wkts | Economy | % of Mdns | Saqlain Sajib | Mosharraf Hossain | Nazmul Islam | Shaker Ahmed | Nazmul Islam | Sohag Gazi | Mosharraf Hossain | Sohag Gazi | Saqlain Sajib | Sohag Gazi | Sanjamul Islam | Sanjamul Islam | Elias Sunny | Elias Sunny | Kamrul Islam |
It might be good to see the same at the end of NCL to figure out who's coming up on all 3 criteria.

^^ I wonder why you consider economy or # of maidens a valuable criterion in FC matches! Is not strike rate and average more important for bowlers in this format?

Total runs might be a red herring as many have not played the same number of innings. For example, Alok has played only 2 innings compared to Amanul's 5.
Perhaps runs per innings would be the third criteria instead of total runs?

Good thread. Zunaed bhai and Eshen bhai have pointed out some valid points as well.
We need to create cricketers through our domestic competitions. Poor domestic structure has been cited as the reasons why we do not find out replacements to our non-performers of the national team. As fans we can help by putting importance on these stats.

Yes Strike Rate is also important.....didnt have the chance to complete that .
% of Maiden (Not # of Maidens as some bowlers may have bowled less overs than others) are included and the reason is mentioned in the post. I guess bowling the right combination of balls in the right area with accurate length consistently would earn the bowlers good overs. Wicket may or may not come in those good overs but runs may not have been scored from good balls. Thus maidens could have given the bowler an edge (showing how the bowlers could dominate the batsmen)..... hence this Maiden perspective was considered. But this analysis can be done in many different angles showing things from various points of views.

Average could take care of that...

Thanks for putting the stats here. Tigercricket is under 'Contruction' . Cricket archieve is the only place to get any news. Local media give next to nothing coverage. I don't know why this neglect to NCL.
BTW, it is good to see the wicketkeepers batting well. Dhiman, Anamul, Sahgir (oris he Sahargir?) and Shahin all making your list.
Another question, Has Hannan Sarker already retired? I don't see his name for Barisal this season.

Good to see Shahin Hossain with those good numbers also. Easily the best WK in the country, and if his FC stats continue to improve qualitatively, he ought to be a shoo-in for the test side.

2-3 matches doesnt matter. we shud bring up records of the last 2-3 seasons.
and our first class level is not as competitive compared to tests.. that is why ashraful scores a century at ease, and cannot do anything in tests.

Great to see Dhiman and Saghir Hossain both doing well. Mushfiq is just not cutting it anymore. He is the only one (other than Ash) who hasnt improved his average over the past two years. The fact is, no matter how much we like to think he's learning, he isnt. GoBoy may have a solid, compact technique, but that obviously isnt doing him any good...
Cut the cord. I'm hoping to see one of these two consistently in the national squad by the end of the year...
