Sunil Narine reported for suspect action again; will undergo another test in Chennai
Quote:
Kolkata Knight Riders offspinner Sunil Narine has been reported once again for a suspect action following the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 22 in Visakhapatnam.
An IPL release said that Narine "will still be eligible to bowl in forthcoming IPL matches" and that he "may request a biomechanical analysis of the deliveries in question at the ICC and BCCI accredited testing facility, the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Science Centre in Chennai."

Kolkata Knight Riders have decided to send Sunil Narine for another test of his bowling action after match officials expressed "concerns" over "fair amount" of deliveries the offspinner bowled in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday in Visakhapatnam. If Narine is called a second time, he will be out of the IPL and hence the franchise wants to play it safe and not risk playing him in the upcoming matches without the test.
It is understood that the franchise is trying hard to get an appointment at the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Science Centre in Chennai, an ICC accredited testing centre. Narine will travel with former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram, who is Knight Riders' bowling consultant, and team analyst AR Srikkanth.
This will be the second time Narine will be travelling to Chennai this month having already received a clearance from the BCCI's sub-committee on suspect action days before the IPL started. The panel, comprising former India captain S Venkataraghavan, former India fast bowler Javagal Srinath and former international umpire AV Jayaprakash, had no issues with Narine's remodelled action and gave him a clean chit. That was a re-test for Narine considering he got the clearance in two months having obtained the earlier one from the testing centre at the University of Loughborough on March 10.

Does anybody think it's fast becoming a business venture?
Step 1: Report any off spinner
Step 2: Have him tested in Chennai at a huge cost to the player/ respective cricket board
Step 3: Clear him to bowl/ do some small tweaking
Step 4: Repeat
Step 5: Profit

Are you sure of this part? Also, testing happens in Aus, Eng and Ind. For IPL, testing happens in Chennai only so I would presume KKR is paying the costs, and it should not be "huge".

Yeah. Now I see why Gambhir was talking so highly of Shakib after he left for the Pakistan tour. Even after his revised action, Narine has been ineffective throughout this IPL.

yea he has been economical but going without wickets. His bowling has definitely lost that venom... another mendis in making i reckon. Could be even worse if he is identified illegal again

Chill mate, it was a joke.
However, If I were in the IPL/BCCI committee, then this would have been a reality. It's just too good a model for quick profit to pass up.

Wonder if Murali could ever play in this new era. Only survived because of Ranatunga backing the whole weight of SL team on him.

If he gets called surely all spinners must be called then. Ashwin probably has the cleanest of actions.

it was because of Murali the rules were changed..before it was 15 degrees for pacers and 12 for spinners..Murali's dusras went past 12..ICC later then changed the rule and made 15 degrees for every bowler

He stopped doing that. In fact him wearing "full sleeves" and saying "why can't I?" made ICC wake up and take action against chuckers.

Murali got called multiple times, he got cleared everytime, he's gone on Skysports couple of times and has been monitored on TV in Slo-Mo, he never chucked, he just gave the illusion of chucking, difference between these guys and murali is, Murali could bowl doosra and extract turn from off spinners because his wrist was double jointed and could rotate a lot more than all these bowlers who are extracting turn from their fingers and elbows whilst Murali did it with his shoulder and Wrist

Sunil Narine has been banned from bowling his offbreaks in any match organised by the BCCI, including in the IPL. He may, however, continue to bowl his other deliveries - the knuckle ball and the quicker straight ball. If he uses the offbreak again in the ongoing IPL, he will be suspended from bowling in BCCI-organised matches.

He is too limited right now. KKR would be wasting a spot if they pick him from now.
