Default Pakistan in Sri Lanka 2014

Two of the most boring sides in cricket are hooking up for what should be a snoozefest.

Solid knock from Younis has Pak recovering to 261-4 but anything less than 500 at Galle is sub par. Will probably be a draw as neither side has the bowling firepower of eras past. Will Jaya retire with a 50+ avg???

BowlingO M R W Econ
RMS Eranga31137802.51(1nb)
KTGD Prasad2438123.37
1.3 to Ahmed Shehzad, middle stump takes a hit! Prasad does it for Angelo. He continues to get some inward movement and this time draws the batsman into making a mistake. This was pushed outside off, fuller, Shehzad pushed forward but failed to take the inward movement into account. That takes the inside edge and crashes into the middle. Shehzad could have left it on the line 4/1
5.4 to Khurram Manzoor, another shout for lbw and I don't think he has an escape from this one! This was full outside off, jags back in, Khurram falls over to the off side like he has been throughout his short stay, pushes outside the line of the ball and gets hit right in front of off. He thinks about challenging the decision but decides against it. Did it hit high? Maybe.. But that looked out straightaway.. replays say that would have hit the middle of the off stump 19/2

AD Mathews1572501.66
HMRKB Herath38911633.05
21.6 to Azhar Ali, beautifully bowled! That has clipped the off stump and it takes a while before anyone realises it... In fact the keeper and the bowler go on for an appeal for caught behind, but Azhar starts walking once he sees the off bail is off. That one was bowled with a round-arm action, it drifted in, lured Azhar into his front-foot lunge, dipped and spun past the outside edge to kiss the off stump.. A Herath special that one.. 56/3
57.4 to Misbah-ul-Haq, what a ripper! This is tossed up, pitched on the middle and Misbah was looking to drive it to off, but it turns sharply to catch the outside edge en route to the wicket keeper. Just when Abhishek Purohit was saying how good Misbah is as a player of spin, one of the best in the world along with Sanga (I hope he mentions it in his report).. He falls to a spinner.. 156/4
101.1 to Asad Shafiq, there he goes, the Rangana! Breaks the partnership with an arm ball! It was tossed up and it kept coming in with the arm, Shafiq was playing for the spin and was pushing forward in defence but played outside the line. No doubt about that, it was hitting the stumps. The batsman asks for a review but he is not going to hear any good news. The replays confirm the umpire's decision. 293/5

MDK Perera31.5113754.30
118.3 to Younis Khan, there's the wicket! Younis Khan marathon is over at 177, he skipped down the crease but wasn't quite near the pitch, stretches forward to reach for the ball, ends up chipping a tame shot towards midwicket, Vithanage dives forward there and collects a low chance, it's been a rough Test for Perera so far but he has now got the big one 359/6
126.6 to Sarfraz Ahmed, that has been smashed to the silly mid-on fielder placed for that shot exactly! The batsman charged down the pitch but didn't get any elevation, hitting it straight and hard to Angelo who takes a good sharp catch 388/7
134.4 to Saeed Ajmal, another wicket for Dilruwan! Ajmal tucks this sharply turning delivery into the hands of Mahela at leg slip. HIs 201st catch but that dismissal would excite Ajmal too. There was some bounce on that delivery too 424/8
140.2 to Abdur Rehman, the batsman's fun and games are finally over as he smacks this flighted delivery straight to long off where Sanga takes a well judged catch at the edge of the boundary. Rehman was a bit disappointed he didn't get it over the line. It did look like he had made a good connection 451/9
140.5 to Junaid Khan, what a catch! That is a stunner! You have to take a look at this when you get a chance.. He makes it look so easy. It was spinning down the leg side and Junaid looks to sweep it, but it catches the glove (probably) and Mahela takes it with one hand, moving to his right, so nonchalantly. That's what makes him such a cool catcher there. 451/10

4.4 to Tharanga, this is close! the umpire raises his finger as soon as the bowler turns back to ask the question. This one jagged back in and like in the first over, Tharanga is falling over to the off side.. But the batsman asks for a review of the decision. It has hit him above the knee roll, that must have forced him to call for the review, but the predictor is showing that the ball is taking the leg bail off.. It stays umpire's call and Tharanga has to go. Just like Khurram in the first innings, he looked like a walking lbw candidate despite edging a fair few 24/1

Mohammad Talha1444513.21(2nb, 1w)
46.6 to Silva, Superb catch by the keeper! Silva pushes at a length delivery and slightly pushes inside the line, he gets a thick outside edge that is dying towards the right of the keeper. Sarfraz dives to his right and plucks it with one hand. 144/2

2 modern greats cashing in on tons so far, we'll see if a 3rd can do it over the next couple of days. herath a seriously underrated spinner though imo, ajmal might have a superior record but if i was picking one to bowl for me i'd probably take herath, gets really good turn, great drift, enough variations and being an SLA there aren't many top quality ones of those. i'd take swann, murali and saqlain over ajaml for offies as well. herath top of the tree for SLA's imo.

no umar akmal again, pakistan are wasting this guys talent, he was good enough to get a few of his development years at test level which would have made him even better but now he's coming into his prime years and missed out on a lot of tests that they could have played him in, it's not like pakistan are that strong of a batting unit that they couldn't have played him.

sanga already out, hope jayawardene scores the 96 or however many runs he needs in this match to end with a 50+ average.

PCB don't support there batsmen except for Younis, Misbah, and Malik. Younis and misbah have at least put up runs and been clutch but they should have played U Akmal and other youngsters instead of has been like Hafeez etc.

PCB seem to be firmly behind that cheat Amir however.

think mahela needs 90 odd runs to end with a 50+ average, that's if he gets out in his last innings.

a 9fer is a great achievement still, they don't happen that often and it's not like the other SL bowlers took wickets.
