Default Shape of Mirpur Stadium: Which Batsmen will Benefit Most?

From the shape of the Mirpur stadium it seems that it will be easier to score more runs by putting the ball in the square areas. The shorter square boundaries will induce the batsmen to 'flick' on the leg-side or 'square cut' through the gully region. It reminds me of some of the stadia in New Zealand. The 'long on' and and 'long off' boundaries may not produce boundaries or sixes frequently - unless they make it shorter.

Any predictions as to whether it will help some of our players score more runs? My guess is Bashar and Aftab will particularly benefit who are very strong on playing the pull shots on the on-side and square cut. So would Ash - but sadly, my prediction is that he will be out quickly trying to flick in the air at square leg or short mid-wicket region.

Shahriar Nafees, Md Ashraful, Habibul Bashar, Javed Omar (!)...

Although I think the shape will be rounded up a little when the boundary rope and ads are placed.

i think shape of the stadium hardly matters. any good batsmen would perform well, on a typical subcontinental batting paradise. batsmen who are technically sound, can adjust their game according to the field, pitch, shape, size, quality of the opponent.

and about BD batsmen?? if they keep thier consistency in inconsistence, does it matter where they play?? Nairobi, Mirpur Stadium, SCG or Lords?
they will still play their silly shots and get out..

usually, the boundary rope is laid out in a circle / oval... some international cricket grounds are square-shaped, but the boundary is still circular. Even the field area of BNS was not exactly circular, but the boundary was put down in a cirlce. I think that will be the case with Mirpur Stadium as well.

and yes, seconding Sydney here... any quality batsman will adapt to the field, pitch and environment to play a commendable knock... the shape of the field will never be his excuse of a bad performance.

It wouldn't benefit anyone. In order for someone to take advantage for something, you have to know what you are doing first.

Can't agree more..We have seen numerous examples of our great batsnab are getting themselves out without much help from bowlers!

So are you saying that the shape of their head matters more than the shape of the stadium?

Golla can play 3 shots, block(his favorite), square cut and flip. ALthough he plays the last 2 shots rarely or even he plays it goes to the fielders but he may like the ground.

So many replies but none of us welcomed Sillypoint in BC! Surprising. Anyway, the shape indicates we might see some big scores in the Mirpur stadium, sadly we might not be among the producers!

Somewhat like that Our genius Ash-Fool or Aftab are playing same unnecessary shots again and again.Making same errors.Seems like they have তরমুজ instead of head.Unless until they get some real gray matters inside those তরমুজ, the shape of the stadium is not going to be of any help for us!
