late order? opener? who cares? someone who can bat and take the charge to the lankans is definitely deserving of a shot at the main XI

i wouldn't be surprised inshallah if Riyad scores another century and then

Breaking News: Mahmudullah breaks in to the main XI ahead of the 2nd Text against Sri Lanka after an abyssmal performance by Bangladesh batting order...(astagfirullah!) in the first test!....

the selectors are always caught in two minds

by popular demand, these things happened in past:

1. Minhazul Abedin Nannu- omitted from World cup '99 squad but by popular demand, got in and saved us from serious embarrassment against Scotland in world cup

2. Akram Khan second test selection in chittagong vs. Zimbabwe in 2001

3. Mahmudullah may be the same case, i am sure judging by the logic of the current selectors, he will get a spot in ODI's, i don't think this time selectors will reverse their decision and include him in Main XI although now is never too late

I don't agree with the reporter sorry. yeah he scored but why we have to rush? ok let him score more cause when he got his chances he didn't do much. yeah salleh is not better them him but at least they r not picking some new kid to play test.

mahmuddlah is a good player but if every one starts to demand place after every 3/4 games then selectors have to let every one play for bd...

BTW how come the reporter just wanted to show last three games what about the whole NCL? what was his scores in all the matches?

Agree to the point that there is no need to rush. Let him score some more.
Make the entry to the national team as much harder as possible. Then players will realize the value of the place in the side. Consequently, delaying the entrance will delay the exit as well and we can get some long term servers for the team.

The reporter was also keen to remind the selectors about the ICL Mayhem !

Until Riyad shows me that he can hold a bat or bowl something that can actually trouble a batsman, I still don't want him in the team. Then again, I'm willing to give him a chance since he's been playing so well in the NCL. I'd rather try Faisal Hossain - the guy just keeps on scoring.

I kinda agree w/ the reporter. Since Nayeem cud not play and Riad is same as Nayeem, he shud have gotten the chance. Whether he wud be in the final xi - thats a different question. Following is another story about Faisal Hossain and his thinking about the selection. How many like him have we lost already?

He might have scored three centuries but I don't think he is quite ready for the test cricket yet. Let him score some more runs. What's the rush?

what else a reporter can write? a good team has been selected! He has to write something different ... if Riad is selected insted of Rajin he would write Rajin did this and that. I like to see more centuries from Riad before giving him a chance in test cricket. Good luck Riad.

I agree with the reporter.
Naeem got chance for the entire NZ series without much success & then in SA he did same.
On the other hand Rajin's prfrmnce agnst NZ was disappointing.
And the fact that Ryad provides the same as Naeem & his recent prfrmnce I must say that he deserves the chance.

He just scored his 4th consecutive century and single handedly defied Barishal the title.

He deserved a chance in the worm up match to show if he is ready or not. And Sadly, he will be given a chance in the ODI where as he shown his temperment and form in the longer version.

We don't know if he is ready or not, but form is importent, who know how his form will be when given the chance. Now was a good time.

Well,Mahmud has scored another 100 in the NCL,thats his 4th consecutive century. And he didnt even get a chance to play in the warm up match. If the selectors keep on doing things like this, then why shouldnt players go to play in the ICL?And surely he will be selected for the odi series against the lankans. But he had scored all those centuries in test cricket. So why was he not selected for the tests? Our selectors are really dumbheads.Faruk Ahmed and Athar ali khan were much better.
