BACKGROUND
The traditional Victory Day cricket match was first organized in 1972 in memory of Liberation War martyrs Shaheed Abdul Halim Chowdhury Jewel and Shaheed Mushtaque Ahmed.

Brief profile of Shaheed Abdul Halim Chowdhury Jewel:

Shaheed Jewel was an attacking right-handed opening batsman for Azad Boys Club who had earned quite a reputation for his attractive horizontal bat shots. His consistent batting form was taking him closer to his dream of earning a Test cap when the War of Liberation broke out in 1971. He was one of the first active cricketers of erstwhile East Pakistan to take up arms and join the fight for freedom. After a heroic nine months in the battlefields he was captured by the Pakistan army towards the end of the War and was killed days before Bangladesh became independent.

Brief profile of Shaheed Mushtaque Ahmed:

A devout cricket organizer Shaheed Mushtaque was an inspirational official of Azad Boys Club. He dedicated his life to the betterment of his club and its cricket aspirations. On the blood-splattered night of March 25, 1971 Mushtaque was shot dead by the Pakistan army near his beloved Azad Boys Club which was at that time situated in Dhaka’s Gulistan.

Anamul and Marshall are without a doubt under pressure to make it in the squad against SL. They did nothing special in the NZ series and did nothing in domestics while Raqibul has been on fire. Good to see Rock putting pressure on the fringe players.

I think Marshal did good enough in the test series to make the 14XI for the test squad. Unfortunately for Roqibul, his performances are coming from shorter format where it is very difficult to get a slot for the national XI

When you hate a person so much you will find any excuse to down talk him.
- 111 against mickey mouse attack does not count.
- Victory day cricket is just for fun, players are more concerned about socialising with each other.
- He recently got married so his fellow cricketer bowled him lollipop as a wedding present.
- Beside I dont like him.
- I forgot SRK was bowling when Rok was batting

I think the NCL will be key here. If Raqibul outplays Marshall, you'd have to say it'd be hard to ignore Rock ahead of Marshall. That is an if though.

As for ODIs, the only spot that's open is Anamul's. He could possibly get in ahead of him but ya it'll be hard to get in ahead of the others.

"outplay" is the key here. Yes, If Roqibul outplays Marshal in NCL, than yes I would be happy to see him make the squad. If they perform similarly, I would stick to Marshal

No chance of NCL unless mitigation of this political turmoil.

realistically the best thing can happen to ROck is he gets picked in the ODI series vs Srilanka, but it will be tough for him to get in, he will have to compete against Naeem,Momin.

For Tests I'd love to see Naeem & Ayub, NAeem will score big I'm more than sure.

This is how we show respect towards our heroes (shaheeds):

Don`t bother trying to get these matches List A recognition
Not trying to get as many top cricketers as possible to play this match
BCB webpage dont even bother to put up the scoreboard
