BPL Press Release: BPL T20 franchises to replace Pakistani players
DHAKA, Wednesday, 16 January 2013
Media Release
BPL T20 franchises to replace Pakistani players
The BPL Governing Council today instructed the seven franchises to select replacement players after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declined to provide no objection certificates (NOC) to its cricketers for participating in the second edition of
the tournament which kicks off tomorrow (Thursday, 17 January) with matches starting Friday.
BCB President Nazmul Hassan said that the door has closed for Pakistani cricketers in the BPL 2013: “The BPL would go ahead without Pakistani players. We have been informed by the PCB today that it will not issue NOC to the cricketers. With the competition just two days away this is an unexpected and uncalled-for situation. Even if players from Pakistan turn up now they will not be allowed to play in the BPL.
“The second edition of the BPL is a challenge for us. We are focusing on making this year’s tournament bigger and better than the last time. We have also communicated with the franchises and have told them to choose replacements from the list of unsold players in the auction or pick anyone else outside that list subject to availability.
“We have spoken to a number on national cricket boards and I can tell you that we have adequate replacements. I am very confident that we are going to have a successful BPL.

Thats not going to happen but I can clearly see they will try something to ruin it. But they will fail.

Sure...they can have 6 afgan players in each team. Pakistan actually can play a big role in cricket globalization by drafting some guys from Iran and Iraq and make them play in PPL or PSL or whatever that fish may be

I think Zaka will buy players with foreign investment. It's not hard to arrange money when the tournament will be prime target for spot fixers and sponsored by black money. These tournaments are all about gambling and glamour.

I don't think it will happen. No international player is stupid enough to risk his life to play a tournament no matter how lucrative. I would be interested to see how it unfolds.

Good decision but I still can't believe it took them this long. Its pretty much given that PCB is going to delay as long as they possibly can because they want BCB to crack under pressure. If this decision was taken at least week ago, franchises would have more than enough time to get replacement players.

yes it took long, but only because confusion and messup created by Lotus.
Nazmul took his time, but he did it in proper way, more in a methodical way. He let PAK close the door, and then locked the door so that they cannot change their mind. All their cards are neutalized, they have basically nothing left to negociate further.
Now the other question left is: can we successfuly run BPL without getting invloved in another play related scandal? We cannot effort to have another caotic situation like last time.

Mr. Nazmul Hasan seems a better politician than Mr. Kamal.

Just pay the players, coaches and staffs on due time, the world will come to us!

As far i know the pakistani players are ready to get on board. but it is the pakistani board or more precisely the legendary zaka ashraf who is ruining the party. so instead of life time ban i guess as long as zaka is there no pakistani for bpl or any bilateral game agaist pakistan should be held.

Yeah, I also think Zaka Ashraf should be published. So no Pakistan players in his era. But players were eager to play so they shouldn't be punished because of Zaka.
