Thumbs up How to solve Tamim Ikbal's problem?

Tamim Ikbal is our best batsman. When he connects he can score century. Very often when the bowler is good and swings, he edges and gets out. He is good against ordinary bowlers. He does well against India and West Indies. But he can not score against Pakistani bowlers. They are swing bowlers and good spinner.

After this tour Tamim can travel with the Pakistani team. He can practice with them and learn to bat against good bowlers. If Pakistan team does not agree Tamim can play in a Pakistan club like Habib Bank.

If that is possible I mean playing in the Pak club cricket then not only Tamim, all our batsmen should go for it.

Otherwise my proposal is to organize some training camp in BD every year and invite some quality bowlers and batsmen to practice with them..

sister, this govt will not send the players to pakistan. They have a hate-hate relationship with them. Tamim can go for his personal interest to improve. Many other players can not afford the cost. Pakistan club will not give money for others.

The problem lies in his approach. He is best to quickfire 40s rather than watchful 20s. Tell him to play his own game regardless of the situation. Its so not true that he is only good against ordinary bowlers. He scored well against the best test bowling attack right now which is England both home and away.
A quickfire gives him confidence for longer innings

He needs to look at some videos of Hafeez bowling and learn how to read him off his hand at the point of delievry to be able to distinguish between the deliveries that turns and the one that goes straight. I would have thought he would have been alraedy doing this after being Hafeez's bunny during the ODIs.

Exactly! But I guess with our Cricketers you have to expect the unexpected - other than the consistent failures, of course.

yes exactly
just like the old kung fu movies where Jackie ch gets beaten by the villain then he works hard with his ustaad and at the end of the movie he beats the villain & wins the battle, wins back his pride.

There's nothing wrong with him, but smoking 3 rather than 2 packs a day and putting on 15 more lbs won't hurt.

Restrict his food consumption, for every 50 he scores he gets a plate of biryani, every century he gets a special biryani.

This thread exemplifies the problem with our cricket. Its not just BCB.

The fans have their favoritism and let it cloud their intellect as well. Regardless of how much you like Tamim, his recent form/shape should put him on notice. If he's not mentally or physically then a break would be good. We made the mistake with Ashraful and shouldn't repeat it with Tamim. If a replacement came and knocked something significant, that might be the kick in the a$$ he needs.

And its not just Tamim, Mushy should be on notice as well. Right now, only Shakib and Nasir should have a longer lifeline than anyone else in the team but a string of poor performances should not spare them either. Nazimuddin is making an honest effort with his chances and should get a few more matches before any judgement/decision is made.

It sends a bad message to drop someone who has performed better than Tamim throughout this series. Its bad for that individual, its bad for Tamim, its bad for BD cricket.

thats true...he needs to hit out and force the bowlers to overthink and stray in line and length. thats what he did to england who have better pacers and spinners than Pakistan. he attacked them and threw them off their gameplan. by blocking needlessly, he is playing right into the pakistan's hands.

While this is the right idea, do we have a replacement for tamim excluding any debutants ? Answer is no. I wish we had a good pool of players to pick from. May be Anamul can replace him but that would be risking a young debutants future in a game where the morale is so low. And as you know with Bangladesh, one bad performance for a debutant could mean a kickout for sometime. In contrast "senior" players keep getting their chances no matter how many times they are proven failure. I would wait for this series to be over than then initiate a complete restructuring and remodeling the team it so needs.

Drop Tamim, why show double standard when it comes to Tamim. He's acting more foolish than the legendary fool himself.

The trouble with Tamim is that he doesn't have the right combination of players around him. As much as I hate suggesting we change the winning combination we have now, I think the following team will make him the Hayden-Gayle he is inside.

1. Tamim Iqbal (VC)
2. Nafis Iqbal
3. Shahriar Nafees
4. Mohammad Ashraful (C)
5. Rajin Saleh
6. Rokibul Hasan
7. Faisal Hossain Dickens
8, Sajjad Kadir (WK)
9. Mohammad Sharif.
10. Alamgir Kabir.
11. Nabil Samad.

Extras: Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique (XWK), Nayeem Islam and Mohammad Mahmudullah Riyad.

Tamim needs to play more and more FC matches. Any player can lose form in international cricket, it's natural. Loss of form means loss of confidence. It only can be brought up by scoring good runs.

Tamim needs to work hard to solve his technique problem against genuine off spin bowling. At the same he must play remaining matches in the NCL for his team.

I agree. BCB guys sometimes go by emotion instead of reality.
