I actually stayed with a Lankan researcher for 2 weeks at his home. I cooked for him and he cooked for me also. Most of the time he would put coconut in curry and once he cooked mutton. For the mutton curry he used crushed cumin which he bought fresh from an Indian grocery and used a small coffee grinder.
The fresh smell of cumin mixed with diluted coconut gravy made my day. Enjoyed with some freshly cooked sticky rice.
