For a medium pacer to succeed; they have to be exceptionally good with line and length, variation and swing. Also, it depends on the quality of bowlers on the other end; Chaminda Vaas had Murali, Mcgrath had Brett Lee ,Pollack had Donald and Aaquib Javed had Wasim & Waqar as bowling partners... Also mny of the fast medium bowlers we see like Mashrafe, Ambrose, Pollock, Zaheer Khan started their career at 140s then slowed down with age.

One thing that does work in Mustafizur's favor is that he is a left armer; so has variety by default. Secondly, if he can have Taskin and Rubel bowling at 140s at the other end, he can take the role of the third seamer that checks runs and get important breakthroughs. On the other hand, the flat and low tracks in Bangladesh will make it hard for him to succeed as a medium pacer. Even great Mcgrath got massacared in Indian and Pakistani pitches...
