Default Master plan for Mirpur stadium complete

The Master plan for renovating the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium into a full-fledged cricket stadium is complete. Bangladesh Cricket Board is now waiting to chalk out the architectural design before starting full swing renovation work.

Cricket Australia, as per agreement between the two countries, made the master plan free of cost.

“Some international companies sought 40 thousand dollars for chalking out the master plan but Cricket Australia came ahead to do the job for us free of cost,” said Mahbub Anam, member of the Board’s advisory committee.

The master plan clearly shows where all the changes will be made and where the light posts will be situated. Graham Watson, a specialist from Cricket Australia, supervised all the work done.

“We have to do it with least possible destruction. We don’t want break a large part of the existing infrastructure,” said Anam.

“The stadium will not be modelled like any famous international ground as is being speculated,” clarified Anam.

“The construction work of the adjacent indoor stadium is going on and we will measure today exactly how many international practice pitches can be placed in the area. I think six or seven pitches can be laid,” added member secretary of the ground and facilities committee Rafiqul Islam.
