Default BCB’s BPL dilemma

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has laid out the blue print of the domestic events for the year 2011-12 but is yet to decide how it would accommodate the proposed Bangladesh Premiere League (BPL) in the yearly calendar, confirmed BCB media chief Jalal Younus on Saturday.

The schedule remains undecided mostly due to lack of a suitable time slot which can make the competition as large as it was originally planned. The tournament was proposed to be held in this year’s November or December.

“We have only discussed about the calendar and there are many things yet to be confirmed and we still have to decide the dates for the BPL,” said Younus.

“We want to make the scope so that the teams can manage to get the best foreign players from around the world. That’s why we want to schedule the tournament in such a time when the players would remain free from their national duties,” he added.

On the other hand, a media release on Saturday BCB confirmed a media session would be held today, where the BCB president Mostafa Kamal will give a briefing on his latest visit to Hong Kong. Kamal recently attended the meeting of the ICC Executive Board there.
