I would suggest a slight shift in policy--Treat Cricket section and Forget Cricket section separately. Forget cricket section is where many of these experienced--and seemingly knowledgeable in cricket--users tend to cross the line. The section covers such a wide range of topics, including controversial ones at times related to religion and politics, I can see how it can be difficult for some members who are very vocal and emotionally involved to keep their cool in the heat of the debate. On the other hand these exchanges make life difficult for moderators to judge objectively without letting a certain level of subjectivity get in the way. They are human after all. But they are in a tough spot when such conflicts arise and things get out of control. Bans will cause many members to have sympathy for the banned whether they're guilty or not since they don't have insight into the events leading up to the ban. In order to accomplish the dual objective of teaching the member a stern lesson and not being too harsh and preventing them from participating in intelligent cricket discussions, they should be banned from Forget Cricket while allowed to participate in Cricket sections until they cross the line there.
