Title aspirants Mohammedan Sporting Club finished their first phase of the GrameenPhone Premier Division Cricket League with a 73-run thrashing of BCB Development Squad at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Opener Javed Omar's patient half century helped the Motijheel outfit to a fighting 237 for nine in the stipulated 50 overs after they were put into bat by.
Javed, the discarded national opener, scored 77 off 121 balls hitting only five boundaries while most of his other colleagues struggled.
Skipper Minhazul Abedin was the next top scorer with 29.
In reply, the Development Squad reached 164 before being all out in 45.3 overs.
