ICC confirms Hot Spot inventor concerns

Remove protective coating for Hot Spot - Brennan

An interesting scenario. On might argue that taping the edges or coating the surface of a bat is a practice that is as old as the game itself, and it is the technology that should not have been implemented if it has such a glaring shortcoming. On the other hand, the current international players have sponsors for their bats, and at least a dozen of them at their disposal at any time. So taping or coating to increase the longevity isn't really required in the modern game.

The real question is, however, what other 'sacrifices' the cricketers and to some extent, the game have to make for the 'betterment' of it.
