Does anyone know the story behind this not being a First Class tournament?
Why should Bangladesh, a full member, have to apply to have this counted as FC?
Who are they applying to, the MCC?
I believe full members should be able to assign FC status to any match that the member board sees fit, given that the match adheres to the playing conditions for FC matches that is decided by the MCC. For example, a few years ago "South Africa Composite XI vs Zimbabwe XI" was classified as a First Class match - it was not a tour match, but I still doubt the South African cricket board had to lobby the MCC to have that classed as FC.
