let me just say that this thread is about West Indies... so discussing our chances against them here does not imply that we are not targeting other teams.. our team management surely has detailed gameplans on how to beat each of the 6 teams in our group but as fans if you look at the current rankings and results then atleast stats-wise this game will be less tougher than beating Eng,SA and IND....
The way West Indies batted in the 1st ODI gave us both positives and negatives...
the negative thing for us is how comfortably Sarwan and Barath handled Murali, Mendis and Dilshan..even after 2 wickets fell early... They were taking singles and hitting the big sixes here and there..and comfortably going at 4.5 runs per over.... This is one area that our part-timers like Mahmudullah and Naeem needs to watch out... we cannot allow them to break the stranglehold created by Razzak and Shakib.
The positive thing is that even after such a strong platform laid out by Sarwan and Barath.. Sri Lanka still managed to restrict them to a below par total underlining the inconsistency of WI... Sides like SA, India or England would run away with the game if given half an opportunity like this... but with West Indies...if we keep fighting we will be able to claw back into a winning position because they hardly ever put up a flawless performance in all three departments of the game.
