I used to hate Hom.... But after watching yesterdays' match, I am very sympathetic.
He used lot of common sense while batting with the tail, which was something completely absent with Sabbir. I can't tell what went wrong in Sabbir's head that day. Was it just a dumb strategy or just plain selfishness ? Either way, Sabbir's strategy in the 1st test was baffling.
As for bowling, this pitch made average spinners appear great. Any spinner with decent control would have done well there. In that sense, he should have done better with the bowl. He got decent turn. But, he didn't display his usual control. May be, he would have done better if given an extended spell. Who knows ?
After watching him yesterday, I wouldn't completely write him off. I now see why selectors consider him as reliable backup option.
