It may seem like an exciting thing to experiment, but it can backfire badly. If Mamodula takes 30 deliveries to get off strike and then gets out, we have twice the damage of losing a wicket and eating up deliveries. Besides it's not about nurdling and nudging for singles but playing according to our strengths. Our strength is we play best when we attack and play our shots except of playing too many shots initiating a collapse.
In fast track like Australia where batsman would run away in sniff of 300 plus runs and bat us out of the game, it is really the last option. Riyad != Amla or Yusuf
Imo, best opener combo was Kayes-Tamim southpaw combo to throw opponents off guard. Right-left Anamul Tamim combo might work but I miss Kayes.
