Default Shaking up Test Cricket: Cricinfo surveys justification of Bangladesh’s Test Status

Cricinfo is conducting a survey to gather public opinion on justification of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe’s test status and possible solution to uphold the standard of test cricket.

The preamble of the survey is as follows:
One of the continuing debates of our times revolves around Zimbabwe and Bangladesh: do they deserve to play Test cricket? Matches involving them playing other Test teams are invariably no-contests, and Bangladesh, when they played in India's Duleep Trophy last year, found even India's first-class teams tough to cope with. Were they given Test status too soon? Should they have been eased into the game by playing ‘A’ teams of other countries first?

Zimbabwe's case raises different questions. A combination of circumstances has made them so weak that they're now on a similar level to Bangladesh. So what should be done? Should they be stripped of Test status? On what basis? Should that basis apply to other teams? And if they should retain Test status, should any team that comes up to their standard be given Test status?

What does being a Test team mean anyway?

We invite you to log in below and take part in a survey we are conducting to find out what our readers feel about this issue. It will only take five minutes of your time, and the collective voice of our readers, we hope, will count for something in the world of cricket. Be a part of the change you wish to see.

The poll requires registration at http://www.cricinfo.com/WCIregister/...istration.html

The question asked in the poll may be directly accessible at http://www.cricinfo.com/db/INTERACTI...VEY/ZIM-BDESH/
